Habesha beer. If you think Oxon is a craft beer desert try an actual desert.* The first one I had was doubly disappointing as it turned out to be brewed by the usual suspects in the Netherlands. The second bottle was at least brewed locally.

Green tea with lime & ginger, which serves me right for not being more specific when Mrs T asked if I wanted a cuppa. I was expecting real tea, you know, the black stuff with milk in. Honestly, some people have no idea.

Needing a bottle for other purposes this morning I emptied a litre or so of that down the sink. It still had fizz in spite of bein last accessed three years ago.

Funny stuff, Calvados. I've had dirt cheap supermarket-checkout Calva and 20-year-old aged-in-the-wood Calva, and the former knocked the latter into a cocked hat. The fruitiness was completely gone.

Veal collops sautéed with sliced apple, cream & cheap calva are excellent.

Mrs T once saw "escalope de volaille" translated as "foul collop".

Let's just say, a tasting session at Bunnahabhain makes for an interesting g ride back down their access road

My fave was the 13 yo peated, finished in marsala casks. Bottled at cask strength. I've made notes!

Last night, as it was getting late and I was bored waiting for my wife, I thought I'd have a glass of wine. I don't normally drink wine because I'm trying to get through all the beer first. So I found a box of cabernet sauvignon from the Christmas stores and poured a glass. Now I'm obviously a classy and sophisticated guy and this was surely quite a nice wine. I honestly should drink more. It had a depth of flavour I'd not anticipated. I mean, it was rich and fruity and had a note of coffee. Really, really good.

It wasn't until I noticed the empty wine glass on the kitchen worktop that I realised I'd poured the wine into a glass a third full of cold brew coffee that I'd forgotten about earlier in the evening.
