Some Banrock Station Cab Sauv that I'd left on the radiator too long, so it's body-temperature rather than room-temperature.  Almost Mulled.  Feckit.

A really nice Chardonnay. Then I might open a red. But I won't drink enough to have lustful thoughts about Simon Cowell this week.

I take it that required a Chardonnay and a red wine box.

Our local shop has started doing Carlsberg Special Brew in little 275ml bottles. I love barley wine and stronger beers, and thought it'd make a change from the Aromas over Tongham that I usually get. It wasn't bad, but if you obey the "serve extra chilled" instruction, it tastes disappointingly thin. Although fuller when warmed up, it's a bit of a one dimensional taste. I'd get bored if I drank it regularly.

Nice to see them making an effort to move away from the street drinkers market.

Not sure if you can get it in the UK, but have you tried their Elephant Beer? Sort of Special Brew strength, but with a flavour like proper beer instead of treacly alcohol.

Sadly, most of a bottle of red, and the thought of all his money.  :-[

A bottle of Hardys Crest red wine ("come dancing" compatible) followed by a glass of white port with a ripe Brie.

Best to try for a few extra miles tomorrow.

I'm sure Kim will join me in claiming that that's a contradiction in terms.

What if it comes from a French Mediterranean town close to the Italian border?

My understanding was that tea came from Sri Lanka, China, India or er, Lgray.

Or are you in a French Mediterreanean town dot dot dot, and crowing it over the rest of the ex-pats that you've found a decent cup of tea?

A £7 bottle of Cotes du Rhones from Sainsburys. At 14.5% it would give Nigella Lawson a run for her money in the "full-bodied" stakes.

My local supermarket had a bottle of something that looked nice; 2006 Chateau le Bonnat Graves.  It didn't have a price, nor did their computer know.  So the checkout drone took the bottle away for what felt like ages, and came back with the query "£8?"
Which seemed a lot for a bottle of red.  Anyway, I bought it.
On getting home and checking the interwebs, it seems that the going rate for a bottle is £12.70.
I'll let you know if it's any good.   After I've gone back to the supermarket with my trailer to clear them out of the stuff.

Not nice at all.  Tastes metallic and chemical.  I may not even finish the bottle.

Now stir the fire, and close the shutters fast,
Let fall the curtains, wheel the sofa around,
And while the bubbling and loud-hissing urn
Throws up a steamy column, and the cups
That cheer but not inebriate, wait on each,
So let us welcome peaceful evening in.

Hot water and honey. There should be some whisky in the mug too, but there's not a drop left in the house.
