A can of John Smiths Extra Smooth - slightly out of date. Not what I would normally choose to drink but I found a three out of a four pack that someone left at our BBQ last summer in the garage tonight when I was cleaning up the paint things after painting the ceiling. Not sure if I will keep the other two or chuck them away.

Peach & mango juice with vodka.  Not my usual, but I'm on holiday.

I am NOT going to be drinking home distilled, Hungarian palinka (fruit brandy) made from dried redcurrants. No sir!

Not drinking homemade palinka?   Stuff like that shouldn't go to waste, so I'll do a good deed and volunteer to take it off your hands.   (assuming you haven't givien in and finished it off)

I'm normally a fan, but it really isn't the best, despite being 58% abv. I suspect that's because it's made of dried fruit. It's still sitting there waiting for an excuse to be drunk. I shall put it in the freezer when I can find space.

I have two bottles of Sainsburys Porter in the fridge. It's attraction is beginning to wane after my initial enthusiasm for it. Burton Bridge is THE porter of choice for me, but a bugger to get hold of.

Sadly not.  Must remember to bring my parents some pint glasses (I have approximately TOO MANY in London).

OTOH, I've had around a pint's worth of the cocktail so far.

I know it's not a posh/'good' whisky but I bought a bottle (on offer) recently as I've only liked whisky the past couple years (my Dad having introduced me to Bushmills 10yr Old) and thought I'd revisit JD having only had it with coke or as hastily downed shots when younger.

And I like it, not as smooth as others but the harshness has it's own je ne sais quoi.

JD is OK. American Whiskey is a completely different drink to Scotch though. Irish is different too  but a close relation. I prefer Irish to Scotch these days ( I know I'm a philistine). I'd rather have a decent port or brandy though.

Oh man, JD & coke is what I used to drink in the pubeh when Pingu & I were first a courting (I was underage and he was a durty ol' man).  Can't drink anything sweet & fizzy like that now.
