Wells Bombardier Burning Gold.

Had a Badger Poacher's Choice just before - a very interesting brew flavoured with a little bit of liquorice.

Mmm, Geuze. Very popular in Bruges, where I have sampled many varieties.

The first time I was in the Antarctic, the two smokers made a pact to give up, just after the ship had gone north (March), and put all their fags on the bonfire. As there was no possibility of resupply until December they jolly well had to give up.
It didn't work - they tried smoking tea, mixed herbs and anything else they could think of, and mined the ice under the base looking for  the old ration ciggies that someone mentioned had been seen once (and even found a couple of tins).
In the end the base commander took pity on them and gave them a meagre ration from those he'd surreptitiously rescued from the bonfire and stashed in the safe.

Er, did I mention that I'm coming over to yours later? ;)

Not drinking right now, but it's been a weekend of beery delights.

Walking past Oddbins at London Bridge on Friday evening, I noticed a display promoting the wares of the Kernel brewery. They're a local outfit (ie Southwark), apparently. Never heard of them before but was intrigued so couldn't resist the temptation to get a few bottles to enjoy over the weekend.

The Centennial Pale Ale and Porter were both superb. Wasn't quite so keen on the IPA, which just seemed a bit too gratuitously alcoholic for my liking (6.8% abv and tasted like it).

Also visited the Swan at West Peckham on Saturday and had a pint of their splendid Fuggles to wash down my excellent lunch.

Chase marmalade potato vodka (made in Herefordshire) straight from the freezer.
OMG it's absolutely delicious, possibly the best vodka that I've ever had (and I've had a few  ;) ). It's certainly the best flavoured vodka.
The flavour is a great balance of tart and sweet, as I'd hoped it would be when I ordered it, and it has a depth that I've not tasted in flavoured vodkas before.
Shitty-wanky-bollocks Pretentious twaddle I know, but I think this stuff is excellent. It's so good that I'm already thinking about ordering another bottle since Chase have sold out of their limited bottling.

I've also got a bottle of their standard vodka in the freezer (I had 3 bottles delivered today, the other is Luksusowa potato vodka. I would have to take some food out of the freezer to fit that in  ;)) and I'll have to try some of that to compare it to the Marmalade. I'd not tried Chase vodka until today.
I know Luksusowa 'cos I've had it before (but, strangely, not when I travelled regularly in Poland). It's lovely and it's much cheaper than Chase. I'll report back

Chase potato vodka.
It seems rather bland compared to the marmalade version.
I need to try it in isolation (but not tonight  ;) ) or, maybe, in comparison with the Luksusowa (but not tonight  ;) ).
From memory, they are pretty equal on taste but the Luksusowa would win hands down on value.
Further reports to follow   ;D

Planter's Punch.

Takes me back to pre kids days when me and Mrs n used to meet at the cocktail bar for happy-hour half-price cocktails after work.
There's no vibrations, but wait.

I don't rate this actually, it sounds (and tastes) like an attempt to infiltrate the vertical drinking establishment market - stick with SA or Dark if you can find it.

Just finishing off a nice Rhymney Export. Tesco stocks it, but probably not outside South Wales.
