A minor correction to
"The incredible woodland construction is a staggering 2,790 feet in length -- more than half a mile long.

It is twice the size of what was the world's largest, the Hoover dam, which borders Arizona and Nevada in the U.S. and spans 1,244 feet."

Obviously the USAians don't know of any dams outside the USA. Hirakud Dam - Hirakud Dam India, Hirakund Dam Orissa, Hirakud Dam

Meh...  visible from space with a strong lens maybe.  Visible from space with the naked eye - not.

Contrary to popular misconception, the Great Wall of China is not visible from space with the naked eye either - neither is the Fresh Kills Landfill site in New York.

However, the Great Pacific Rubbish Tip is visible from space with the naked eye - a testament to man's polluting behaviour.

i took it to mean the effect of it is visible -- that is, the penned in & cleaned up area of water, rather than the structure of the dam itself (the majority of which is underwater anyway).

So that's what Jordan has been up to.
It is simpler than it looks.

The Hoover was built 20 years earlier - at which point it was, indeed, the world's largest dam. ;)

The Hoover was built before WW2, a bit more than 20 years before the beaver dam.   ;)

I meant 20 years before the Indian one - but fair enough, you got me there!

I'm surprised that Fox printed this:

Quote
It is thought that several beaver families joined forces to create the massive dam, containing thousands of trees, and took many months to complete it.

Sounds like Socialism to me!
It takes blood and guts to be this cool but I'm still just a cliché.
