The rowing

We are 40m from the finish and the finals are about to come down.

This is tense!
It is simpler than it looks.

Women lightweight sculls. Don't even look as if they're breathing hard. The fight is for 2nd & 3rd. Cruised over the line.

Don't look as if they expected it!

OK, John Inverdale goes up in my estimation for a very sensitive interview with Mark Hunter and Zac Purchase. He was almost in tears as well.

Who wasn't?

Incredibly tense, incredible emotions.

10/10 for rowing.  Great coverage and great results: 4G 2S 3B

Out sculling this morning and only just saw the men's lightweight double sculls (have it all recorded) - good race, top marks to the Danish crew for a huge last 500m to take gold. Could see Hunter & Purchase going so hard, but just had no more speed left.

And the women's singles - beautifully long, powerful sculling by Knapkova, and gutsy racing by Erichsen. Not to mention Crow doubling up and doing six races in a week, and getting two medals.  :o

Amazing riots from our rowers!!!

Noticed in the women's double sculls they both had a yellow 'device' the stroke's by her feet, the bow's on the rigger. Any idea what it was?

Just read on Danish news that the French and the Danes think that teamGB should be disqualified for their restart blunder.

Tell 'em it wasn't our fault - the seat was made in Germany.

Yes, a pal of mine is surprised the French aren't better at being gracious losers, given the practice they've had.  ;D

what? you were there too?  Great, wasn't it!!

paul F - it's a stroke coach, tells them the time, rating and can tell you the speed if you've got an impeller fitted under the boat (but I doubt if they have)

(we were near the front about 50 yards from the finish  ;D)

Mike, we were in stand 1, block 104, row 29. Seat 114.

Didnt spot a YACF top :D

Got on the bus at Slough and the mum of one of the rowers in the four got on and sat behind us. She lives in our town. What a coincidence!

I'll try to do a spectator report later, however I'll simply post the image of the day for me. This was taken 15 minutes after the finish of the lightweight double skulls. The race in which the GB pair of Mark Hunter and Zak Purchase were pegged back by the Danes and although level as they passed our seats, lost by a fraction.

Hunter couldn't walk, was helped by Steve Redgrave, was practically dragged up some steps to fulfil the media requirement of an interview soon after the race. After the tearful interview that you may have seen (with John Inverdale) they came back down the stairs. That pair had rowed as hard as they could.

It is simpler than it looks.
