The community on here were fantastic in 2020, helping raise over £6k for research in Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy by doing the Rapha Festive 500 for Charity. It's back for 2021 and you only need to raise £100 to get one of these great badges to add to your Audax Collection. remember, Rapha no longer give out badges, so here's how you keep your collection going......
Duchenne is a rare condition, usually affecting boys who will wither away during their teens and die before they reach adulthood. This initiative was inspired by film maker Nick Taussig, who has two sons with Duchenne, both will die. Nick and I have organised a few long distance charity rides over the years. Harrison's Fund is run by Alex Smith, a triathlete whose son, Harrison, has Duchenne. It is a small charity and has low overheads and advertising budgets, hence more of your money reaches the front line research needed. Because Duchenne is relatively rare, it does not get state nor big corporate support, it needs charity and volunteers. Your money will not save anyone now living, but it could prevent heartache being suffered by families and young boys in the future.
