Having miscalculated my calendar appointment for donating blood by a week I find myself available for riding this week (but not next week).  So where shall we head to?
Littley Green sounds good to me as the default  not after accumulating miles in the legs anymore  ::-)

Chappel would be good this weekend...['cept I probably can only make Saturday evening].

I think, unless there are any objections, that it's The Compasses, Littley Green, for us tomorrow night? 21:00 or thereabouts.

Anyone joining the Witham Peloton this evening? Usual departure point and time.
Default route via TMNH, Boreham & Little Waltham??

I have a meeting early evening so will probably make my own way there then ride back with you lot.

All subject to change of course.

There's a middling chance I might make it to the Compasses, but I'll be making my own way if I do.
You are in a maze of twisty flat droves, all alike.

I should be ok for tonight. If I'm not at the roundabout by half 7, I'll intercept the peloton en route...

Ok, in that case we'll definitely head down the Witham Road towards Terling (straight thru the S bend, not going up Peg Millar's) and hang a left to Hatfield Peveral at the T junction. Usual route over to TMNH from HP.
Should be at The Compasses very close to 9pm.

A slightly smaller peloton than average (in numbers that is, we are taller on average without DL), made its way to the default option ie the Compasses, last night.

Huggy, AndyQuaffer and Gavin SSN left Spa and presumably picked up Bobb somewhere between there and TMNH.

Tomsk made his own way from Dunmow and I attempted my own version of closed road cycling by cycling a road that was, quite literally closed.  In fact, in places it no longer existed.  Much hiking through mud, nettles, brambles and a ford ensued

Nevertheless, we all assembled eventually and sampled the usual fine selection there.  Essex Boys by Crouch Vale being given the prestigious "quaffers' choice award" for the evening.

In attempt to get our kitty back on the road (which will save me from scrounging when I "forget" to bring any money again), we may have to find an exotic location that DL hasn't been to, we wouldn't all fit in his bath so a pub it will have to be...

Where to this Wednesday evening?  Might I suggest ...?

Farmer's Ales (of Blue Boar, Maldon fame) have opened Farmer's Yard which apparently is now Maldon's smallest pub. It's at 140 High Street. It'd be rude not to go!

However, it shuts at 9pm  :o So perhaps we go straight to Maldon, have a pint or two and then press on?

I know we're all about pushing the boundaries of the space time continuum at MEMWNS but leaving Spa at 7.30 (ish) for  a couple of pints in Maldon before 9pm is ambitious.  I like it

Where did you have in mind for proceeding onwards ?

Up The Mighty North Hill via its eastern escarpment?

looked like a great ride through Holland etc

Is it just me and OD this week in the race against (closing) time ?

I was hoping AndyQuaffer, our treasurer-elect, would be out but he may be too busy advising cousin Jerry.

Should be OK to join you for a drink on Weds.

Mighty Oak, the other brewery in Maldon, is also planning to open a micro-pub at the top of the town

So...dash to 'Farmer's Yard' before 21:00...adjourn to Blue Boar or more miles? We haven't been to the 'Roundbush' near Purleigh or the 'Bell' in the village itself, as far as I can remember.

Chelmsford CTC didn't get a very good reception at the Roundbush café next door to the pub so I think it's off their xmas card list now! Not sure about the pub next door, same owners?
