I'll have to give it a miss sadly as no train option and can't ride. :-[

Leather Bottle, Pleshey this Wednesday, as per Toby's Dad's suggestion upthread? Or the Railway Tavern, Kelvedon?

Somewhere with a train assist option would be better for our wounded.

Hello lovely people!

It's been a while since the last event so I was wondering if folks fancied camping at mine on the evening of Friday the 7th of October?

I've a new games room/pub that needs commissioning and it is my birthday a week later so seems fitting.  Owing to the weather since the start of the year when the build started, the games room is called the Four Seasons.  It is complete with a snooker table and pub area so perhaps we have a Black Tie with Pie event - bonus points for having black tie attire.

Pie will be sourced and if I can work out the technology, perhaps some mash as well.  I'll pop to the Maldon Brewing Company and pick up a couple of pins of beer (likely Oscar Wild and Maldon Gold).  If you prefer a particular tipple then also feel free to bring it with you.

Suggest this time you all head straight to mine anytime from 18:00 onwards and the beers start flowing from there.  If you'd like to drop camping stuff in the run-up to the event then that's fine.

A tenner a head would be appreciated towards costs.

If we can get quorum I will get things organised.

chief

Evening Folks,

Looks like we have quorum so we are all set for the Evening of Friday the 7th of October

Beers open at 18:30* but if you'd like to get here earlier to setup or cheekily Work from Chief's (™) in the afternoon that will also work.

If I have read through the thread correctly, it looks to be:

Oscar's dad
jiberjaber
tippers_kiwi
Oaky
Jem
Christophe
chief
Huggy (renown for turning up at the last minute so putting him in anyway  ;D)
Tedshred
Anyone else?

I was thinking of getting us 18 pints of Maldon Gold but perhaps a change from Oscar Wild. Any other recommendations from the Mighty Oak Brewing Company?

Marks Tey station is 15 minute cycle.  If you were going to drive here then there is plenty of parking.

Snooker, darts and perhaps some cards will be on the, err, cards.  Top-half Black-tie adds to the occasion, everyone would prefer if the bottom half is covered though.

Food will be pie

This sounds remarkably interesting. I’m currently in Norfolk with My Dear Wife but would like to give it some more thought when I’m home, if I’m not too much of a gatecrasher.

Leather Bottle, Pleshey this Wednesday, as per Toby's Dad's suggestion upthread? Or the Railway Tavern, Kelvedon?

Leather Bottle sounds good to me! Inconveniently, work has me in Milton Keynes during the day but I’m aiming for 830-9.

Split ?
I think it may well be approaching that time of year where an EER (including walking wounded) and rest-of-MEMWNS split becomes a thing again.
For my own situation tomorrow evening I can feel a humdinger of a cold coming on so I'm most likely to be staying at home, again, not to mention the super strength antibiotics which carry a health warning about not drinking alcohol. No one needs a sober coughing huggy sitting with them!

I'm aiming for Leather Bottle - about 8:30pm eta

It might seem to be forward planning, but how about the Railway next week?

I got a text from 3 audaxers doing a one-way perm saying they would be at the Spiritual Home late afternoon.   I, however, am in the City and unlikely to be home before 8pm.

I'd detour via Pleshey but I have another 5am start tomorrow.   Next week is a faff as well as I'm in Amsterdam Wed-Fri (without a bike).

I'm a bit blocked up with the family sniffles - it was only a matter of time that it got to me, so I'll cry off tonight and hope to be ok by the Richard Ellis on Saturday.

It looks like we have T'sD and GS heading to the Leather Bottle, (but not the one in Blackmore) and that is it ?

Nick - it was Leather Bottle at Pleshey, not Blackmore. But that probably doesn't help numbness!

I will be there at 830-9 still - sounds like me and Grey Sheep at the moment?!
