Ok, some Western Forward Planning - going Forrin again? Prince of Wales, Green Tye or Queen's Head, Allens Green?
Either of those is fine with me.

Let's start with the POW then?

When you mentioned Prince of Wales I had it in my head the one in Broxsted. Just realised my mistake. I'll be along at 8pm ... in Green Tye!

I'm up for a fairly eastern venue.

I'm up for a more Chelmsford based location tbf, I don't fancy slogging in to the headwind home... also looks like a thundershower around 7pm... I might head to 'dev.

I may go for a walk to the Woolpack (Witham, Church Street). bike parking is sub optimal.

Any one about this week.

I'm happy for another western venue if there is enough of the splinter group around, if not maybe a more central venue ?
I could really do with talking to the ACME wheelwright after this weekends issues.
Jabbers mentioned Sir Evlyn Wood ??

I'm not sure we can keep using this splinter group terminology going forward, there seems to be a defined East and a West now...  hopefuly not the end of 'ME' bit of MEMWNS  ???  It's almost like we need to rebrand to Compasses Once A Month Nocturnal Series!

Evlyn works for me - I just need to give Trish a bit of notice.
I think there is a cohort route checking KOTS mid week this week... which might limit numbers?

Perhaps there could be seperate Suffolk, Hertfordshire, Londonshire and Essex NS groups, and they could bid for attendance by subsidising the beer?   ;D

I am the founding member of the Seaside East Suffolk Amicable Midweek Easyriders - we're always Open !

Talking of which, OD and I will most likely be absent this week as we will either be pre-recovering for Latitude or on site.

Talking also of which, if anyone is looking for Wednesday evening riding to pubs in Seaside East Suffolk - ie Southwold, Lowestoft etc...

I did put a comment on strava!

If the spoke is as suspected, it will have sapim stamped into the wire (lengthways!) a few mm from the J bend on the outside of the bend. Sapims seam to fail at the stress riser at the end of the rolled thread, they use a very abrupt transition from thread to plain on all their spokes. DT and Alpine spokes have a much more progressive transition, but DT are fairly unobtainium in this country since brexit.

Some spare wheels available, but would have to convert a hunt rear to through axle I suspect (bits not in stock though).

I also need to discuss wheels.  Less urgent though.  Next project.

Have you considered a ticketing system like the Post Office ?

Shall we give the Sir Evelyn Wood a go then? Looks like a bit of a beer garden to the left for bike parking, but it'll be the big bad city padlock-and-chain I think I'll be bringing. According to Mrs Google, there seems to be an ok back way in from the A1016/London Road roundabout to Widford Chase/Road. Jibers will know the best approach ...

In terms of Routes, theres a couple of options.  If you fancy some light COR (gravel path sort of level) then you can come in through Highlands Park, just be careful crossing the top of 3 mile hill next to the Widford RBT.

If coming from central Chelmsford, then there is mostly a signed cycle route (on-road for most of it).  When you get to Miami RBT (Tesco) there's two options, using the two Toucan crossings to get across (South (Tesco Side) of RBT), or the uncontrolled crossing point (North of RBT) over 'New London Road' (Moulsham Street on the maps). Then use the subway (sharp left turn up a ramp at the end)

The garden is quite large, and extends out to the back.  I usualy put my bike against the fence and can see it from the seats and tables inside.

I'll try and call in lunchtime today and let Trish know - can we pull together a bit of a show of hands.

I called in to see Trish on the way back from my lunchtime ride and she is over the moon we are visiting her!

If you are heading in on NCN1 and would like a slightly nicer route but road bike friendly you can go through Hylands using Paradise Road, just take care when crossing 3 Mile Hill at the Widford Church RBT.  Worth looking out for the Dragons Teeth on the other side of the road if you use that route...

I had brief thoughts of suggesting a venue on the way back on the first loop but we’re aiming to get a bit of kip at my place before doing the second loop.

Just had another look and noticed the underpass at the Miami roundabout - Moulsham Street/London Road, which links to Widford Road. That'll do.

I'll be along about 20:30

FWP proposed route

You can head straight down to A&N and over towards Springfield a little more directly if that helps: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/43727572
