I wonder if we could lend more local flavour to the art-form

For your Christmas do I will be dying my hair blonde, wearing fake nails and thigh high boots, and drinking alcopops.

Much of this is a lie

Well, just in case any of it isn't, this thread is useless without etc etc etc ;)

It's me - I have them open all day, hitting the F5 key every 10 seconds  :P.

Aha - I'm not the only one then ;) ;D

I never realised F5 did that.  What else am I missing?

Longer term, Alt F4 may be healthier for us   :o

Blimey!  You're in London (I presume) and I'm in Essex and I hit Alt F4 and you leap behind my monitor  :o  I'll have to be more careful in the future.  Sorry!

Which function keys do I need to use in order to take control of Cheryl Cole?

I think we need a Playground Monitor to ensure we all play nicely and no-one's tent gets widdled on

top camping tip ... don't eat yellow icicles.

Back to the proper topic of the thread, ... we have a small number of remaining fixtures scheduled this year
  • 25th Nov - The Viper - Mill Green
  • 2nd Dec - Square and Compasses - Fuller Street
  • 9th Dec - White Hart - Margaretting Tye

And the (non-mid-week) Christmas Do on Friday the 11th Dec.

Once we run off the end of the list,  I believe the plan was that it would roll around again (see the link in my signature for the details of the whole list).  I suggest that the participants in the last few MEMWNS outings of the current cycle (i.e. those above) spend some time discussing the list in time for the rollover date.  (I'm happy to do something different/out of the schedule for e.g. 23rd Dec, if anyone else wants to come out to play, I don't know how many might make it out on the 16th Dec ... I might - depends how unhealthy I feel after th 9th and 11th ;))

Thank you for your tips Mr O.  I rely on you to keep me on the straight and narrow   ::-)  And now back to pub cycling ...

Whilst there are some pubs I would love to visit again, there are also some new ones I think we should attempt to visit:  Railway Tavern (Southminster), Hurdlemakers (visited before but not for a while), The Swan (Bures), Malsters Arms (Heybridge), Five Bells (Colne Engaine) Strangers Home Inn (nr Manningtree) and The Viper (to be missed by some of us on the current cycle) to name just a few.

There are also some special edition rides we could undertake.  For example, in one night we could do all the Compasses pubs that go to make up The Great Essex Mystery.

Also, the emphasis of these rides was supposed to be riding not drinking.  Judging by the state of some of our members (no names etc) I feel we have some way to go before we can truthfully say we have achieved this objective  ;D  So, perhaps we can attempt some longer routes with two pub stops which might be useful as the nights get colder.  These longer rides could be interspersed with shorter ones.

What do we think?

Excellent proposals.

Seconded.  Apart from the bit about not drinking, obviously - whatever next?  Tea?

I'm not saying no drinking, I'm saying less drinking.  You should get a hip flask, or a brewery dray to follow you round (although the Shire Horses might not be able to keep up with you).  Tea is fine.

You could use it to carry emergency bottom-ointment in case you're ever forced to ride on one.

Urine soaked tents aside  :-X, I'll be attending a c*r related club this Wednesday evening so won't be able to make it to the Viper, but, will definitely make it along to Fuller Street on the 2nd.

Marathon plus's and brand new tubes are now fitted to the Dawes so hopefully no more p**cture delays for me

Very good chief.

Of course you realise that there will be a horrendous forfeit payable by you for forsaking your cycling chums in order to go to a car club.  We will have a think and let you know.
