Anyone used foldingbikes.biz?
« on: 30 January, 2013, 09:14:22 am »
Hello folder fans,

I am in the market for a new folder as I'm getting fed up with the state my station bike gets into being left outside with the rain/snow/ice/vandals. I'm looking at something small but not a Brompton (too expensive). I've had a Dahon before (which was a bit of a lemon, but so many other people like them that I think I was unlucky with it) so will probably go there again.

Has anyone used www.foldingbikes.biz? They seem to have a good selection, including the Curve which I like the look of, but I've never heard of the shop. Anyone got any experience, or indeed know of another good retailer for folders - either Cambs/Suffolk area or online?

Thanks  :)

They are CH White, who've had an association with Dahon for a while.

An alternative is Avon Valley Cyclery in Bath

Ah, so they are a 'real' shop, good stuff.

Thanks!

CH White is an Aladdin's cave.  It is very hard to go in there without spending money.

What about a secondhand Brommie?  I paid £450 for mine - not new, but very little use.

Went for it and got the Curve from CH White. Good service, including free delivery and a free 'cover' (not really sure what that's for, protecting the car maybe?

Thought about going for a Brommie on eBay but I'm not confident to know if there's anything wrong with a secondhand bike. I've also never seen one that doesn' need 'extensive work' for under 500 pounds!

£500 is about the floor for one that doesn't need work.  I paid £250 for one but spent abut the same fixing it.
