I'm staying in bed. Just opened the door to the wind and really can't be arsed this morning.

Thought Kiwis were made of sterner stuff than that. Managed the commute on Tuesday and Wednesday in the wind. Did take me an extra 20 minutes on each journey though!

Not sure what this is. Is it full of holes, triangular, going like clockwork, or having a Heidi and holiday?  :P

An "interesting" MEWBS outing this morning.

When I eventually rolled up to Spa, almost 2 minutes late, the peloton of DL, Huggy, the BFC, Bobb, the Hustler and ( in a rare outdoor outing) OD were all raring to go.

Tippers had called in sick having developed a rare wind allergy.  We wish him a speedy recovery.

With the wind it was probably colder than we had expected.  Nevertheless, still great weather for January.

We had a trundle around familiar lanes whilst discussing our usual highbrow matters.  In fact I was engrossed in an in depth discussion with OD about elephant bikes when I decided to treat everyone to one of my bike/swimming interfaces.  This time it was a large pothole hidden in a large puddle that caught me.  Before I knew it I was over the handlebars lying in a soaked heap.  It seems that fixed bikes have an ejector seat function that I wasn't aware of

Sometimes one fall isn't enough to entertain a difficult crowd.  I threw another in for good measure, this time while static just after getting back on.  I blame being cold and wet.

Entertainment over, it was off to our usual MEWBS dispensary for breakfast and Essex Energy Drinks (except OD who is being healthy and had a tofu sausage and nettle tea or something).

Joking aside, our ted had a lucky escape, the pothole he hit was a good few inches deep with steep sides so any wheel going into it wasn't coming out.  ted and I were chatting away, he was slightly behind me to my left and quick as a flash, from the corner of my eye, I saw him being catapulted over his bars and hitting the deck with a splash.

Here's Fred's front wheel in the hole ...

I have the exact location marked on my GPS so will try to report it.  Hopefully the repair will be done quickly.

I would agree with you OD, as I was listening to you both talk I saw the whole incident and it looked a lot worse than Ted ended up being which is good news. He took a heavy landing on his shoulder and I feared the worst let's hope they get the pothole filled in soon

I'm planning on getting out again on Saturday morning.  Same format as last weekend with an 8am start and finishing with brekkie at 'spoons.

I have opening the ride up to the Witham Cycling folks so those of you who are members of the FB group will have just got an invite.  Therefore the start will be at in the Witham Leisure Centre carpark (Spinks Lane) not the Spa Road roundabout.
