There's a comment elsewhere on this issue -
It has, apparently, been caused the manufacturers in the usual far east places thinking that when the pandemic kicked off at the start of last year that they would see a downturn in volumes (and of course had factory closures too) so throttled back production.
Of course the exact opposite was the case with lockdowns and more leisure time with people buying bikes ... and getting existing machines repaired - so we're now reaping the benefits of shortages and significantly increased prices driven by supply/demand.
