Title: TDF 2023 femmes
Post by: quixoticgeek on 23 July, 2023, 07:36:03 pm

Well now the men have warmed up the crowd, and got everyone's appetite suitably whetted, the real tour de france started today.

Anyone else watching.

I’ve not spotted it on the TV guide yet. Which is disappointing (not sure yet whether that’s disappointment in TV companies or my attentiveness).

Yes, definitely. Well annoyed yesterday when, having put Lotte Kopecky in my Velogames team I looked at the family league to see that I was in last place. Both my wife and daughter outscored me - one without Lotte, too!

Yes, we are. Highlights on GCN, for those that have it. (At least GCN are doing long highlights this time - for the Giro Donne your options were 5 minute short highlights or the full stage. </end of grumble>)
Another win for SDWorkx, additional grumble.

I've watched a few stages. Commentary is a bit dull after 3 weeks of Cameron Kirby tho'  ::-)

Well it's all very exciting. A day in the mountains tomorrow then a time trial leading into the fiat rest day.

Next week's gonna rock!!!

Very much looking forward to today. My hopes are with Annemiek but I suspect it'll be Demi.

Crushing from Vollering. Big buffer going into tomorrow.

Is there anywhere I can find the highlights of each stage to watch?

Bear in mind that I last had a television when there were just 4 channels, and I haven't signed up for anything on line, other than to buy a television licence.

The GCN highlights are broadcast Eurosport highlights. If there are no highlights on Eurosport 1/2/3, there won't be any on GCN.

Both GCN and Eurosport are part of Warner Bros. Discovery (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warner_Bros._Discovery), and are the same at the rights & production end of things.
Eurosport player is no more - it's changed to "Discovery+", at least for new subscribers, and there's also some sort of merge with TNT Sports (was BT Sport), so goodness knows what sports will end up on which subscription packages. At least GCN seems to be remaining as is (as far as I've heard).

P'd off yesterday: france.tv and francetvinfo.fr out of sync.  Was watching the last battle between the front three live - as I thought - on france.tv then flipped to francetvinfo's Race Centre to see where the rest were, only to find that Vollering was already over the line: the "live" video was about 15 minutes behind.  Kinda took the shine off it.

Bloody 'orrible conditions up there. Today should be a little more pleasant: negligible wind, max 23°C but high humidity.

Every rider from our (Movistar) @LeTourFemmes team have given their Tourmalet kits for charity - with signature + stains, after such a big effort.

Should fetch a decent price.

A worthy finish, very pleased for Lotte. Demi's done well to maintain her form all season.

That was seriously close for 2nd/3rd. I was really hoping Niewiadoma would make it.

After the fantastic performances those lassies turned in, I reckon it's only funding - aka prejudice - that's cutting the race off after a week.
