The bike is fettled & ready to go.
The forecast says the sun will have his hat on.

Where did you see that?

Met Office has cloudy, 12 'C, 20% chance of precip' and 14 mph WSWesterly. When headwind, 'feels like' 0 'C.

Long sleeves.

It's not continuous headwind and heavy rain like last Saturday's ride.  It'll do.

I'm struggling to find the motivation at the moment. I've a lot of other things on because it's nearly easter and I just can't get excited about setting off at 4am, driving 250 miles, riding for 12 hrs and then driving home (with sleeping in car). I think I'm out :(

All in all, a pretty good day out on the bike.

I still hate that section out to the Strawberry Garden Centre (it's like it's designed to be bloody hard work on a 'bent), but as with the Wem We Get There, it's much easier after that.

The wind made its presence felt.

Bridgespotting.  Sun came out.  Legs still work.  Finished with plenty of time in hand (though having started on time, this qualifies as my slowest 100 yet).  Only got rained on on the way home from Mordor Central.

(Was it the Tamworth Onesie Festival today or something?  I felt decidedly underdressed.)

Absolutely. Always nice to share the road with Team YACF, and we were pretty lucky with the weather - although it only really got warm on the very last leg! Hills were conquered, headwinds were battled, bridges were photographed, cake was eaten, and fun was had by all.

Apologies for flapping about the cut-off times, by the way - it's an ingrained phobia caused by an early audax I did where the cut-off times got progressively faster, leading to a certain amount of panic when we were flagging and only had a few minutes to spare  :-\

It went much as I expected being familiar with all the route & my own lack of practice since Arsenal won a trophy for a good while.
I enjoyed Kim's company once more & it was a pleasure to meet Dibdib.

A nice day, a nice route, a nice wind pushing you home on the final leg and good company riding with Veloman (Richard) over the final 60km.

Another one for next years diary  :)
