Official results ?
« on: 26 September, 2022, 09:33:22 am »
Can we have an update on when official results are expected to be released. I appreciate 1500 brevet cards take time to process.
Is there a multi stage process with cards being validated by the event, then approved by AUK, before finally going to LRM for recognition?

Yes pattern is .. we have to verify  .. then to AUK then to LRM. Memory says that 2017 brevet cards were posted to all validated riders in time for a Xmas present .. so maybe late NOV early DEC.

I'm more concerned about the results becoming official than getting the physical card back as my application for ACP's randonneur 10,000 award (and AUKs Brevet 25000) is hanging on the event, and next year due to stupid internal politics reasons the ACP rules change Super randonee goes out and 600km BRM with 8,000 of climbing comes in.

While we await the official results of LEL 2022, here are some statistics for the previous LEL pulled from the LRM results database

First record: 1989 - 1325km, 26 homologated Finishers
Latest records: 2017 - 1400km, 831 homologated Finishers

Totals for LEL History

2,663 homologated Finishers (fewer than I expected, it shows the huge grown in the event in the past 2 decades. In 1997 only 107 finishers)
3,723,350 km total ridden
278,065 hr 50 total ridden (that makes it an average finish time of 104hrs, obviously affected by the increasing distance)

If I could pull the database more easily I could come up with some more interesting stats, maybe a project for another time or person!

I looked recently and I think LEL is responsible for 30-40% of all LRM validations too.

It's been pointed out on FB that a LEL entry has appeared on the 'My Completed Rides' of the AUK website for some (all?) riders. However in my case the points (distance and AAA) are not yet added to 'Validated Results & Awards', or the ride to my Individual Results.

Am assuming some teething problems in loading the results (the AUK site only appears to know of 18 event finishers, which I'm not among) - anyone else see similar issues?

Because LEL entry systems are on a separate website, it's a time-consuming manual task to put all the results on the AUK site.  Patience is required.

It's listed on My Results as "1500km (1540km)   14080m   14 points   11 AAA". Which strikes me as odd, I always assumed points = distance / 100 and AAA = climbing / 1000

FYI I've emailed alwyn to let him know LEL, which was 1540 km, is showing as 14 points rather than 15 points. I'm sure that'll get updated, and I wonder if it's just carried over from the last two editions when LEL was 1,400 km.

As for the AAA points they will be awarded for just part of the ride. So whilst the ride itself was 1,540 km, the section getting AAA points won't be the whole ride but probably something like the ~900 km section from Humber Bridge --> Edinburgh --> Humber Bridge.
What on earth am I doing here on this beautiful day?! This is the only life I've got!!

I believe it should also be recorded as 11.75AAA

LEL 2017 had 11500m climbing and a measly 2.75 AAA so I'm not complaining about 11AAA  ;) My first AAA points since 2018...

AAA points have had several dramatic inflations since they were created. Something to keep in mind when looking at previous record totals.

Appears on my riders dashboard
does not appear on my ride history
LEL appears in the events list with only 18 finishers. (18 first alphabetically it appears)

I'm sure these issues will resolve shortly
It's listed on My Results as "1500km (1540km)   14080m   14 points   11 AAA". Which strikes me as odd, I always assumed points = distance / 100 and AAA = climbing / 1000
yes points is distance/100
AAA points is not always total climb /1000, as sometimes only part of a ride counts. Rides of over 600km require 11.67m/km to qualify, so for the entire route to qualify it would need 1750m of climb. 11 points suggests a 940km section at 11.67m/km qualifies, so agree with others, only the part north of the Humber counts.

all results are up now, totals not added to yearly numbers because the event is still "provisional"

Provisional usually do go into the totals, but only after the database runs a calculation overnight. Now that the 2021-22 season has finished, I'm unsure if this calc is still running.

I believe the AAA total for the event still needs review. Loading the route into the AAA calculator at http://aukgis.frrt.org/ (with Yad Moss diversion), results in 11.75.
I've emailed AAA Sec to ask. I imagine this will be updated as the results get finalised.

The AAA points appear to have been updated to 11.75, distance/AA points still not feeding to annual totals

The Provisional status appears to be wreaking havoc with the summary stats on the personal Results page:
# Rides, Championship points seem to include the LEL results, but
AUK points, Distance/elevation, AAA points, Awards & Summary don't.

Will patiently await the lifting of provisional...

(I'm assuming that LEL counts as a 1000km ride, and makes one eligible for SR2500 if a normal SR had been completed besides this?)

Separately - 890 finishers in the list - presumably that's just those that finished within the time limit. So 57% completion rate. Makes me feel well chuffed that I made it through. Also interested to see almost exactly 50/50 split between UK and overseas finishers. It felt on the ride that there was a much higher proportion of non-UK riders, but maybe that's just because the overseas people were more noticeable?

My championship points don't include LEL points. I do have 1 more ride completed (LEL) than is being counted in the other stats. And more points in calendar events that total points as LEL is being counted there... don't think it's down to the provisional status alone, as iroiromono was suggesting

My guess is that the recorders are just very busy administrating the flurry of claims that come with the end of the season. The overseas 400, b5k and b25k awards I claimed a month ago are not yet processed either, though the correction of my name on the brevet awards page is. It'll come  :)

Once everything is processed I will have crossed the 100points in a year for the first time ever

I'm awaiting brevet 25k as well, although my claim could not be processed until LEL became official.

Congratulations on 100 points, I thought  had quite a big year, but only got to 68, even if I had not bottled out of LEJOG I would still be 18 points short. Maybe this year.

AUK results have been finalised and brevet numbers issued.
https://www.aukweb.net/results/archive/2022/listevent/?Ride=21-1

The LRM homologation numbers can be found on their site:
https://www.randonneur.me/index.html#eyJzIjp7InJpZGVyX25hbWUiOiIiLCJldmVudF9uYW1lIjoibG9uZG9uIiwieWVhciI6IjIwMjIifX0=

It seems that they haven't been merged into the AUK results database yet.
