I just booked our first two night accomodation for the Cub's big adventure.  He fancied a short first day so that we could stay at a hotel with a swimming pool on the first night, and internet pricing meant that it actually didn't cost much more than A.N.Other B&B, so that's what we're doing.

Means he's going to have to pedal like crazy if he wants to get to Bedale in time for the steam train on the Thusday tho!

Our building's Facilities Manager happened to be in yesterday, so I took the opportunity to ask if there was a chance of cyclists getting their own keys (or adding a swipe card reader) to the rear gate to save the hassle of using the intercomm to get security to come around and let us in.  Ain't gonna happen.  :(

Because the owners have been convinced the token Sheffield stands out back and the single shower in the basement just ain't good enough!  In two months or so we can wheel in out bikes through the front door and take the lift to the basement where there will be bike storage, showerS and lockers  Huzzah!

Now to pester HR again about signing up to 'Bike to Work'...

Ms AWL & the 3 AWL Juniors have departed to sunny Budapest for a month!

The house is eerily quiet & the fridge is well stocked...

Call in on your way back then, but I'm off to Worcestershire in the morning to get an Islabike for Little Miss Junior. I think I'll be down to my Marstons' box set by then...

Hooray!

Re this post... the babysitters can come tonight instead!  So we're going to be horrifically late, but will actually get to go, and Dearly_Beloved might speak to me again.... better go find some earrings then (not very good at this girl stuff.  Took half an hour to find my heels_that_I_can_walk_in).

Mrs C has gone to Warsaw for a few days leaving us... plum cake!  :P Little C claims not to like it  ??? which means I run the danger of looking like a plum myself by the time she comes back.

Very highly recommended by Polar Bear also.   I have had mine for at least two years and use it regularly.   I have been wondering about sharpening it, not that it needs it yet.   A remarkable, resilient, great value bit of kit.

Bike bits have arrived!  :D
  • Fizik Gel Pads and Bar Tape Black
  • Kool Stop Dual Compound pair of inserts (silly me ordered only one pair  ::-))
  • FSA Vero Compact Road Bar
  • Shimano XT M770 pedals (nearly half price!)
  • Planet X Ultralight CNC Stem (crazy discount)
  • Record Triple Chainset 30/42/53 (another ‘steal’)
  • Veloce 9 Speed Cassette 13-28

The last two will be added after I find a Veloce long cage rear dérailleur, and may look for a Record front one as well.  My tyres are still on back order.

I have now spent more on bits for the Ribble than I did to buy it! (Mind you, I got it second hand).  But I don’t care – I’m loving this bike.

I think that we'll have to call it "Trigger's Broom" from now on! Glad you're still enjoying it!

Once all the above bits (incl. dérailleurs) go on, the remaining original components will be:
  • frame
  • rear rim, spokes, hub/freewheel
  • brakes
  • all cables, inner & outer (but at least inners may be replaced in the Spring)
  • bottom bracket (another probable Spring change)
  • fork
  • shifters

So, not quite Trigger's Broom, but could be by the end of next year!
