Home baked Randonneuring
« on: 25 August, 2019, 12:07:45 pm »

I'm pondering shaking up the food I take on Audax rides a little bit with some home backing. My fruit cake works quite well, it stands up to the abuse of being thrown in my feed back, and is pretty energy dense. But it's got me wondering. What are peoples favourite home cooked foods to take on audax rides?

I can recommend Wobbly's Brandified Bread pudding.

Is that a secret recipe Sir Wobbly, or can we have a go at it as well?

Also, any suggestions for savoury home baked cycling fuel?

I like these:

The puffed rice/rice crispies make them lighter and crunchier than some. They can be a bit sticky - every time I do them they seem to come out a bit different.

1. Make a really good Bread Pudding.

2. Let it cool.

3. After cooking pour a bottle of Brandy over it. Let it soak in. Then open another bottle of brandy and keep topping up until no more gets absorbed.

4. Keep away from naked flames.

And a special award for anyone who can devour an entire pudding and still finish the ride?

(Not much to add to discussion, the only "homebaked" stuff that I take on rides is the occasional boiled egg.)
