Tweed Run 2023?
« on: 01 January, 2023, 11:45:31 am »
It is the time of year for making/ breaking resolutions and putting stuff in the calendar.

Is there a Tweed Run planned this year or has covid put a permanent stop to the ride?

If memory serves, the people who originally ran it  sold it to a commercial events outfit.
Whether or not that outfit is still running it, is another matter.

ISTR it became very expensive.  The webshite is defunct.

Farcebok page seems not to have been updated since March 2020.  Looks like it was killed utterly to DETH by COVID-19.  There seems to be one this year in Wellington NZ though :D

If the Tweed Run is no more, are there any rides of similar intent in or near the UK?

L’Eroica, Velo Retro and suchlike lean more towards cosplaying a 1950s or 1960s pro, which is good fun but not the same sort of thing. I did the 200km L’Eroica in period kit on a 1950s Claud Butler in 2013 and really enjoyed it but I was leaning towards the Tweed Run as a contrast to PBP and all that palaver, which is my big target this year.

My mate Bruce was a stalwart of the Tweed Run.  Remind me and I shall ask what the status is.

https://www.anjou-velo-vintage.com/en/retro-rides/anjou-velo-vintage-spirit has been on my list for a while and looks to be similar in style to the Tweed Run for the shorter options.
