Sharing GPX files more easily

I'd like us to have a way of sharing GPX files on the forum more easily.

Any ideas?  Does SMF have a mechanism for uploads?

Bikely seems to break GPX files (or I'm doing something wrong).

Well it depends on what you want. I prefer to use routes with one routepoint per routesheet instruction, and named like (01 L, 02 E2, 03 SOX, 04 LiR, etc).

This may change if I get an Edge 705 at some point in the future...

Only if you don't turn off "auto-follow the road", and don't spend the time renaming each point:-

And to get this into my GPS:-

1. Click "Download .GPX" in Bikely
2. Save file to disk
3. Open file in text editor
4. Add <metadata></metadata> before first <rte>
5. Save file
6. Open in GPS Trackmaker
7. Upload to GPS

Actually I have a script that fixes the metadata line, and it strips out the elevation data, and checks that each routepoint name is 6 chars or less and unique.

If you do it often enough to warrant an app Dropbox is perfect for sharing files. Install a little service which creates a 'My Dropbox' in your docs folder, which contains a subfolder called 'public'. Anything you copy into the My Dropbox folder is mirrored directly to the Dropbox server, any changes you make to files are also mirrored. Allowing for your upload speed the process is instantaneous. Anything that goes into the Public folder can be shared across the internet. You just right click on a file and it gives you the address of that file's location on the Dropbox server so anyone who wants the files can access them whether your machine is on or not. Best of all friends can have linked folders on their machines that are direct mirrors of folders you create in your own dropbox, meaning that any changes either of you make to the files are copied across to the other, without being made public.
