Why do they so often start on Friday and end on Monday morning?

I think you are right.

Its Monday and my man flu is nearly over.

It started on Friday three weeks ago.
It is simpler than it looks.

Why do they so often start on Friday and end on Monday morning?

Because, subconsciously, your body spends all week fighting it to keep you well enough to be at work and as soon as you start to relax for the upcoming weekend your body lets down its guard and the full force of man-flu takes hold.

Or is it alcohol induced dehydration over the weekend?  ;D

The 3 week man-flu bug seems to be very common.
