Ten Push Ups Challenge
« on: 06 December, 2008, 06:36:53 pm »
Right, that's it.
I've had enough bleddy "last month I couldn't do a single push up, now I can do so many I've run out of numbers and there are hand-shaped scorch marks on the axminster and you wait until the hospital remove the pins in my left elbow after the big off recently you're really going to see something and I'm going to do them with a bag of nutty slack up the back of me t-shirt ".

So - welcome to the push-up challenge for the weak, feeble, or old (I'm 55).
I started 3 weeks ago with a big 3, did column 1 for a week, and have been doing week 2 since then. In fact, I'm doing day 1, then doing day 2 twice, since week 2 day 3 is beyond me. I'ts getting better, but slowly...
Anyone else struggling??

If you can't even get your age right how can you expect to count the press-ups you've been doing?

I reckon you get to about 6, your mind wanders off, you forget how many you've done and start thinking about the nice piece of haddock you've got for supper. Then your brain re-engages with the task in hand and you come to your senses, realising that it's a bloody stupid thing to be doing anyway.

Pour yourself a pint of beer and do something sensible, man!

Given that the ahem mid 50s total  required has got to 2, I shall throw myself at this challenge this evening .I have not done a press up for years ,and my shoulder has never been right since the pins came out  last year ,and Ive got a bit of arthritis you know and I might have to nip off for a wee in between the 2 due to my prostate problems other than that bring it on.

I swore, many years ago, that I wouldn't use age as an excuse but .....

I'm 63 and have finished Wk3 Col2.  I faltered on the way and did Wk2 twice. Woke on Sunday morning and couldn't bend left elbow far enough to scratch my head. It got worse during the day. By Monday morning I can now scratch and rub like a good un but cannot straighten or lock out my elbow. Still hurts far too much. Having a week off and will then start again.

Or possibly not.

Ah - can your right army still do them?

Thank you, and goodnight.
