[LEL17] Nameplates/badges ORDERS CLOSED!!
« on: 14 February, 2017, 08:17:41 pm »
We've had the tyre lever conversation, so it must be time for nameplates!

Can't recall who organised the nameplates on LEL 2013 - can anyone advise?

I was thinking that volunteer badges bearing yacf names might complement these, but I don't want to tread on anyone's toes if plans are already in hand.

I may well simply recycle my 2015 PBP one  :)
Why should anybody steal a watch when they can steal a bicycle?

guilty as charged, m'lud
Someone else was kind enough to take it on for PBP2015 (albeit with the same printer) as I soon became engaged on other duties.

We are setting up frame numbers etc with same supplier as 2013 .. contact established .. but not progressed yet.
assuming we talk soon .. I will raise a YACF query .. and then report back on here .

I will not take on organising YACF  name plates

After a couple of PM's it looks like I'm the man to organise these this time. Will progress a design and make enquiries, and report back here a little nearer the time.

If you have an interest in a bike nameplate or a volunteer badge by all means post on here and I'll make sure you're included in any information when it's available.

I'm certainly interested in a volunteer badge

I'll create some space on my bike for the YACF nameplate.

No space for that, my bike is for grown ups and not for kids ;)

You'll get one similar to that when you register, the discussion here is about larger nameplates with your yacf name on, for those who want to peep over the edge of their anonimity cloak during the event

LEL provides 2 frame plates .. one usually goes on the front ( somehow)  and one is shaped for the frame triangle. This discussion I suspect is about a different one that for example has ..   FidgetBuzz also known as  Roger .. on it,  which might travel on my saddlebag ( if I was riding ) .. so that it is easy to start a conversation  .. Oh you are .... or Hi Roger where you from etc etc .

Nameplate. Yes Please!
If all rides could be gentle pedalling downhill with the wind behind rather than puffing uphill with a windy behind.

I've a PBP 2015 one, which'll probably get re-used (I'm in Yorkshire)

Can I ask that you make the name plates really, really, REALLY heavy? Say, 10Kg or thereabouts.

Helps reduce the advantage that the lightweights have over those of us with *proper* bikes  ;D

A bit spendy, but would add a touch of class to any bike.

But if we do that, and you're planning on using your 2013 lightweight nameplate, wouldn't that make you a bit lightweight?

And would anyone be able to post a picture of their bike with nameplate, so those who don't know what we're talking about have a better idea of this must have accessory? Thanks.

As a non-rider, my nameplate (which appeared together with ones for CrinklyAuntie and the Cubs in the post after the CrinklyClan helped out one of the people who organised them during the build up) never got fixed to a bike.

It did go on a lanyard for the duration tho...

I like the idea of everyone having lead nameplates

As for sails, well the Roadster Sovereign already has 'em in the form of full coat-guards covering the rear wheel. I just need to learn to tack against the wind and I'll be fine.
