Title: Malfunctioning Etrex 20

I have an Etrex 20 I bought in December 2014.

It will no longer load GPX files and I cannot get it to revert to the screen where the speed, mileage, etc. are shown

Has anyone had any experience of this and has anyone heard of Garmin repairing it or should I buy a Wahoo?

Sounds like software. I have heard of many success stories in calling Garmin’s customer support over software problems. Worth a try.

Also try taking the memory card out, if you're using one.
