Gasping like a stranded fish, sweating buckets and cooling off on the sofa with the fan set to 11.  But two of the three door hinges are attached at both ends

Just finished parcelling up prezzies for MrsT's birthday tomorrow and cursing the 'quality' of Easy-Tear™ prezzie paper.

Remembering the last time I was in a traditional hardware shop - Patterson's of Ann St. in Belfast - to buy a new lock for my mum's front door.  The shop assistant fetched it from the back and parcelled it up in brown paper torn off a roll, cut it with precision and made a neat rectangular package in about a minute, then tied it with string and added a loop to carry it by.  No Sellotape, just dexterity and string. 1983 that would have been.
I've dusted off all those old bottles and set them up straight

Not taping thirty year old (and hence not sticky) sticky labels onto Post-It™ notes and then sticking said notes into Ye Guide Bok, because it’s too hot and sticky in the kitchen to do more than one sheet before going to lie down in front of the fan.

Making a start to ripping many CDs to FLAC into a media library (a shared network drive) so I can stream them via the various Sonos things without using any cloudy spotty crap.
After a bit of initial faff setting up EAC to use the FLAC encoder, it all Just Works.
The Sonos devices see the media library, display the cover art, and play the .flac files without complaint.

One of the disks I was ripping had this as the cover art...

Seemed familiar from my recent trip to South America...

On a train at Saunderton.  I can see the Smalldean Lane hill from here.  The horror.

Sitting in front of my computer, nice cup of tea to hand, and thinking about putting another layer on because it's cooler in here than it was - a mere 19°C.

Relaxing before lunch having “defrosted” the shed back-up freezer. More like de-iced as my technique these days is to whack off as much as possible of the accumulated ice using a wooden steak mallet.

Wondering whether to have another cup of brown drink or go to Mr Sainsbury’s House of Toothy Comestibles while:

Listening to the scrape and clatter of roofers fettling the auvent above my office window.  They got here before 8 am and their boss reckoned they'd wrap it up by lunchtime.

Sounds a bit like the noises the dentist's tools make when you're looking at the ceiling with your mouth open.

Contemplating cleaning the fridge shelves before replacing them and turning it back on.

Freezer has been flooding for months. I'd scrape the ice every few days and carry on.

Having figured the drainage pipe might be frozen or blocked with debris – the bone dry drip pan was a clue – yesterday we finally got around to emptying it and turning it off. After 7 or 8 hours we were rewarded with the wonderful sound of water splashing into the pan. Not sure why it froze up in the first place. Rather than face the despair of Amazon reviews and ratings, we've invested in a proper thermometer.

Roofers gone, now contemplating the bust of Homer lunch. We spent most of the morning elsewhere, with croissants & coffee.

Enjoying the satisfaction of a morning well spent: met three other chaps at the Co-op Bank and have, hopefully, successfully transferred signatories of the local Green Party's account that hasn't been accessed for several years, despite it containing over £1600. Went with them for a coffee and a tea cake at a high street hostelry, and then had a blood test.

Took my painfull knee to the doctor - after a bit of feeling and flexing of said knee his diagnosis:  "It's just worn out, what do you expect at 76 - I'll give you a steroid injection which will make it less annoying"

On a positive note, cycling isn't too much of a problem - bit walking more than about half a mile and it becomes painfull and a bit swollen.

That's interesting. When were were looking to set up a new account for our local party I didn't try the Co-op as I couldn't see how we would have fitted in their allowable organisations:
https://www.co-operativebank.co.uk/business/products/current-accounts/community-directplus/
ie registered charities, community interest companies, community benefit societies, co-operatives and credit unions.
Or were the regulations different when your account was set up?
Currently waiting for a decision on our application to Metrobank (Timing: We haz it), I need to be lining up possible alternatives if they turn us down.

Avoid the Coop. They are now an american bank and I've hit all sorts of problems making payments with coop cards, transferring money etc.
