The Exorcist 2

The power of Christ compels you not to watch it

The Exorcist 3, on the other hand, is really rather good.

And I prefer Alien 3 to Aliens. It has more of the claustrophic atmosphere of Alien. Aliens is great shoot-em-up (as someone said), but it isn't much more than that.

http://www.youtube.com/v/MywWolXGIx8&rel=1 has already been made and, in my opinion, is a great tribute (Oasis never denied they were heavily influenced by the Beatles. There are some great deliberate "Homages" in there.

I'll confess that I'd never seen that Oasis video - I didn't have a television when they came along so only ever heard them on the radio. It's a good "tribute" but, to my mind (and I know lots of people rate them so please don't give me a hard time) a bit like watching a bunch of kids playing football in the park wearing Liverpool strips.

James Bond - it's been downhill all the way since Dr No.

All of those Toy Story / Ice Age / Madagascar, etc franchises

This is an outrage! How dare you even mention Toy Story 1 or 2 in the same breath as those other insults to celluloid? Besides, surely the OP's question presupposes that the original was at least worth watching, which rules out Madagascar and Ice Age, since both were crap the first time around.

Both Toy Story movies are bona fide classics, though I must say I'm rather nervous about the prospects for Toy Story 3. This is going to have to be pretty darn special to justify its existence. Why can't the money-grabbing bastards leave well alone? >:(

Mostly Harmless by Douglas Adams. Not a sequel so much as a quintuple, but he still shouldn't have bothered. Stavro Mueller my arse.

+1 - although he did take the p out of Cricket which earns him lost of brownie points. I've always suspected that the fact that of the British peoples only the English care about cricket proves the innate superiority of the Celts ;)

Indiana Jones and the Temple Of Doom. Once memorably described as "the crap middle one" (when it was still a trilogy).

Depends what your criteria are - Harrison Ford looks his best ever there, and he takes his shirt off, so as far as I'm concerned, it's the best one. ;D

It's not the second one in a franchise but often the third which goes too far - Shrek 2 and X-Men 2 are great, but Shrek 3 and X-Men 3 were *dire*!

...and not forgetting The Godfather 3.

Which is exactly why I'm so concerned about Toy Story 3.

On the subject of H2G2 I got the distinct impression from 'Mostly Harmless' that Douglas Adams had had enough - or maybe another deadline was whistling past - and wanted to be shot of the whole thing. I think it's the only book that actually had a conclusion . . .

Just sayin'

BTW

Jaws 2 & 3 were absolutely DIRE IMHO

I'd like to remind the honourable posters that there were no sequels to Highlander.
It takes blood and guts to be this cool but I'm still just a cliché.

Chopin wrote a series of Polonaise throughout his life. In general they get better as he learned his craft. Culminating in Polonaise A Flat Major Op 53 one of the greatest piano pieces ever written. If you are of a more lyrical turn of mind you might argue Fantasie in F Minor Op 49 to be one of the best ever piano pieces.
So a great deal might be expected of Polonaise-Fantasie A flat Op 61. Not what we wanted at all.

Titus Alone is unreadable after Titus Groan and Gormenghast. One of those where the lead actor drops out and they're left trying to struggle home with the supporting cast---though the lead character here is the castle. They said on the radio last week that there's a fourth one, recently discovered, written entirely by Maeve Peake from Mervyn's sketch: I rather dread looking at it.

Pyscho sequels, or prequels

Friday the 13th onwards, althought the first wasn't great in the first place.

Despite the presence of eastern European corruption - a hobby horse of mine - Three Colours White cannot hold a torch to Blue or Red in impact. Don't get me wrong, it's good cinema, but the other two are masterpieces, and even Julie Delpy cannot raise it to anywhere near their heights.
