Yes, you're right, that looks like a better identification. Juveniles are difficult! (Or maybe I am a bit useless.)

Indeed. It will have been flying up into the air and 'parachuting' down giving a single repeated note, "tee-tee-tee-tee-etc". White outer tail feathers?

Comon as muck now.  They hang around tips (like the one in Didcot and the one near Middleton Stoney); Victorians used to call them "shitehawks" instead of their formerly common name "kitehawks".  Basically they're posh crows.
Hard work sometimes pays off in the end, but laziness ALWAYS pays off NOW.
