It's a bit like this.

That is almost exactly what I looked like. Without the tie of course. Or the mac. Or moustache come to think of it. But otherwise, yes, exactly what I looked like. (Or the hair)  ;D

It was a bit more reminiscent of this actually:

I shall be particularly easy to spot from now on, as I have a brand new National Clarion 1895 jersey!

Weird colours, I know, but it's to do with the flag of the Second Spanish Republic, which a lot of Clarion members went to defend, in the International Brigades (flag link)

It does indeed say No Pasaran on the sleeve.  But I suspect that may be untrue for a lot of fast commuters on the A3 ;D

That's a not-too-shabby* shirt Clarion, particularly with your name on it.Was it coincidence or special arrangement for it to also have the year of your birth on it ;D

* a compliment in the local lingo

Cheeky beggar! ;D

1895 was the year the Clarion CC was founded.  I wasn't born till...well, a year or two later. ;)

It does indeed say No Pasaran on the sleeve.  But I suspect that may be untrue for a lot of fast commuters on the A3 ;D

I was right.  Passed by about ten riders. :-[

Now I need to work out how I can afford to buy a jersey from the other Clarion! ;D

I did get spotted yesterday, in fact, by a fellow Clarionette!

It was Butterfly, in fact, though she rather let the side down by not shouting 'Boots!' ;D

Sadly not. My bike is white, but no helmet this morning, and I arrived at work (about 10+ minutes away) at 8:30.

Spotted Teethgrinder (again).  Heading south on the A1081 towards Harpenden at 5.30 pm.  I didn't lift my head up to spot him until the last moment, and my shout wouldn't have been heard, as he had a Zen like smile on his face, staring into the distance with his headphones on.

Did one of my stupid backwards spots at 8.35 this morning.

I was sliding serenely past the stationary traffic on the approach to Elephant from the Old Kent Road when I spotted a cyclist doing the same in the opposite direction.

"What a nice combination of colours he has on his jersey", mused PaulR.  "Nice sensible bike too", he added to himself.  "Oh look", he thought, "His shirt says National Clarion on it!".

And so I passed Clarion within inches, a second or two before I realised that the chap who looked like Clarion, who was wearing a Clarion short and riding a clarion bike on the approach to where Clarion works might actually have been Clarion.

Have a good morning

Oh cool, Paul.  I'm afraid I didn't see anyone coming the other way, cause it was really tricky negotiating the traffic merging around the roadworks, and I guess I was concentrating pretty much 100% on a coach that was closing the gap at the time ;D

Actually, given the abysmal ride time I managed this morning, that's almost the fastest I rode this morning :(

Glad the Clarion jersey gets attention.  I hope the CWU logo doesn't get ma any stick when the postal strikes bite!

PS: Nice sensible bike :)  That's pretty much it.  It was my do-everything Orbit Silver Medal, with 'Clarion' on the top tube. :)

Don't bother looking too hard.  There's only one and a half. ;D

One is the National Clarion 1895.  The half is the National Clarion.  It's currently being led by 'non-political' members (for which read non-socialists; everything's political), but a lot of the members are sound.

I'm a member of both, though relations have been acrimonious at times.

I'm surprised - there is no German language page about this phrase on wikipedia.
