Jim Morrison's idea for his band name The Doors was inspired by a quote, "If the doors of perception were cleansed everything would appear as it is, infinite." Who wrote this?
Aldous Huxley?

That'll do, PaulF. All yours.

Ermm......sorry to interrupt an entertaining thread, but as William Blake wrote in "The Marriage of Heaven and Hell": "If the doors of perception were cleansed, every thing would appear to man as it is, infinite".

Please carry on without me; I enjoy watching.

Yes, I know.

I'd mucked up the question, which now left it with two rightful answers. Doh!

No.

There was live music, but not pop music. Although there was some recorded pop music.

Four Weddings And A Funeral came out in 1994 - was it anything to do with that?

No politics, no royalty, no film, no jazz, no spinning 45s, not a concert of any kind.

It was a significant date in our musical heritage. Think local (to me, that is) ;).

Knowing it's Bury St. Edmunds doesn't help very much, sadly.

You were getting closer last time ;).

Nothing to do with Greene King or any other private company.

Nicknack and Flatus have it between them. It was John Peel's funeral. Although a private service, the public were invited and speakers were put outside Bury Cathedral so everyone could hear the service.

I'll let you 2 decide who wants to go next :).
