Where to get Point of Interest (POI) data

I'm looking for sites that offer free downloads of Point of Interest (POI) data, preferably in GPX format (e.g. as waypoints).  My goal it to add useful information such as the location of shops and accomodation to my GPX files.  The best I have found thus far is...

I used to use this site in the past to access various POIs but haven't done for a long time. Worth a look but they do ask you to register now whereas they didn't use to.

OpenStreetMap has all sorts of stuff.
You can use Overpass Turbo to extract what you want. http://overpass-turbo.eu/

I've found the OsmAnd Android app is great for offline maps and points of interest information (e.g. locations of supermarkets / accommodation / facilities / tourist attractions etc,etc,etc).  You can setup custom category's to display POI's not in the default category's (e.g. cycle shops).  It can also download some wikipedia data for offline access.  It was very useful on holiday where we did not have any mobile signal or internet access.
