Bath 100 Sportif - 3rd April.
« on: 03 March, 2011, 03:10:03 am »
A couple of us have entered this Action Medical Research sportif starting from Bath racecourse.
Anyone else here entered ? If so look out for us in our retro BIC jerseys !
Has anyone here ridden any AMR events before ?

Sorry to resurrect this thread.

Did you guys do this ride in the end? I have entered the Suffolk Action ride (this will be the third time we've done it) but this year they are apparently making helmet use compulsory - did they actually do this on the Bath ride or was it more laid-back? Previous Action rides we have done have not had this rule.

We would not have entered a 'helmets-only' ride, and the first we heard of it was last week when they sent out the email with the ride instructions on it, including 'No helmet - No ride'. I don't have a helmet nor any intention to buy one. I've never put one on my head that wasn't incredibly painful and uncomfortable and could not contemplate wearing one for a 100km ride - I would be in agony.
Not overly audacious

Yes, we rode it, a well organised event with excellent feed stations  ;D
I wasn't aware of any non-helmeted riders, but I have to admit I wasn't looking !
Although they did have helmets on sale before the event !
It would be a shame if they enforce that policy, surely it should be a decision taken by the rider ?
