I dropped over 6000 places since 2009
peanuts ; I've dropped 11000 since 2007, but I completed the ride and that's what counts for me  :)

Registration for the 2012 Vätternrundan opens tomorrow morning. If it's like last year the 18000 places will be gone in around 3 weeks.

Anyone else from the forum riding it this year.
I've just checked I'm starting at 19.38 Friday evening.
Being 20 kilo lighter than last year all ready and not really started on the roads yet, I'm hoping to push my time down to around
11 hours again.  :D

Not this year but I've put the entry date for next year's ride in my calendar.
Wheel meet again, don't know where, don't know when...

I'm going. Will be starting with the Ride of Hope groups just after 3 am, so not even the slightest chance of catching up to you Gus. Looks like less wind than last year but maybe more rain.
Congratulations on your weight loss!!

just a quick update.
well that became a wet ride. started in fabulous weather friday evening, very little wind and 16oC.
So it continued until I reached  Karlsborg~210 km, then the sky went beserk and it poured from it. It was not the average little shower
I must say. A smart rider never forgets sealskin gloves and raincoat. So 90 km in the very wet and finished in 12H 24min.  :smug:

I will try to write a longer update later with more info.

Maybe next year I'll be quick enough to get a start.

It's getting a bit hysterical... CykelVasan (Vasaloppet ski race but on bikes) sold out in 30 min (12000 entries). Theres is a giant exercise boom in Sweden at the moment.

The "transfer window" for starts in VR 2013 opens in april and last until may 15th or something and there are always tickets for sale, it also seems that more and more people are moving away from trying to make a profit when selling. There are exceptions of course...

One way to make sure you get a "first hand"-ticket is to join a club or group that book ahead for example the Ride of Hope charity group that raise funds to fight childrens' cancer.  (www.ride-of-hope.se)  Started by Gary Fleming (yes he is british).

it's a great ride; make a date for 2014; and make a week of it there's a lot more of Sweden to see  :)

I suppose most who are planning to ride already know but just in case someone forgot; the "transfer window" for entries has opened and closes in mid May.

The red juicy stuff Martin talks about is blueberry soup, the traditional swedish sportsdrink that makes you look like a vampire :)
