Bah!  I have just opened my credit card bill containing my holibobs expenditure, which is teh suxx0r and also massive ARSE.  Also my Babbage-Engine has so much jam in it that it took me fifteen minutes to get into Thieving Gitcorp's web-shite1 to pay it.  And some doppo is wandering around the office taking a collection for the "leaving2" present for someone I have never even spoken to, which is also massive ARSE as pointing out to the doppo that not contributing to the "leaving" present of someone you've never even spoken to makes you look like one or more of the following:

  • a liar
  • a skinflint
  • a terrible git

Hurrah!  No, actually there isn't one.

1 - Free money for me now, please, because I am excellent.
2 - Job went to India, more like, but as they're trousering a five-figure redundancy payment,  they're getting this from me: 0.5333 of fsck-all.

Where was the good news?

Why would anyone want to give a leaving present to someone they'd never spoken too?
Do not clench. It only makes it worse.

Where was the good news?

There wasn't any.  Hence:

Hurrah!  No, actually there isn't one.

ICBA to find the Bad News thread, because I am an idle sod.

Why would anyone want to give a leaving present to someone they'd never spoken too?

You wouldn't, but for some reason the massive arses think you would, because they are massive arses.  The BigCo is full of them, this being in the nature of BigCos.

how about you change to Southern Electric and get them to change it sooner.  BG are a bunch of cnuts, and southern electric are based in Havant* and are generally a more amenable bunch.

That's rediculous, we had to have that done when we moved into our new place (yeah thanks for that) and BG did it in about 2 days. It was this time of year as well, in fact it might have actually been TODAY, in 2009!

Well, when I spoke to SE they said that if I wanted their locally branded electrons it would be best to get our current (boom-tish) supplier to sort the meter first, then change suppliers. On the plus side SE would charge £52 to change the meter, BG do it for free.

Yeah, we discovered that we needed to buy electrons before we could make a brew on moving in here a week or so ago  >:( we also needed to get the landline reconnected before we could sort the meter. To give BG their due the guy dealing with it spent quite a while trying to find a cancellation slot for me but there was nothing so I just booked the earliest slot he had.

The person who rented this place before us was watching the pennies and chose to cancel the landline and have a payment meter put in to help her spend less. Seems odd to me.

Bad new: Morgan Computers sent me a desktop with a CD/DVD reader not a CD/RW as in the ad. They also chose to ignore an email to them & didn't call back yesterday as promised.

Good news: I spoke to them today & without prompting too much, they offered to send me an external, USB-powered DVD/RW drive which is what I was going to ask for anyway. Hopefully here Monday.

Pretty much standard operating procedure, I'm led to believe.
I'm in the same position - I'm having a root canal finished next week (had an abscess in the tooth, so had to wait for infection to clear up etc.) and it'll need to be crowned within 6 months. The bad news is that the crown will cost me the thick end of £300.

The good news is that I'll have a bling gold tooth to go with the titanium teeth I already have :)

Good - I have fettled a bit of my sleep deficit.  I managed a positively luxurious 5-ish hours of proper conked out zzzzzs before waking up.  Then got up to let cats in and feed them and then went back to bed for another nearly-3 hours more - which was proper sleep, not dozing.

Bad - I have totally failed to take advantage of the relative not-feeling-like-a-zombie-ness to get anything done!
