Is that an LED or fluorescent light source? It appears to be strobing.

The one on the right is possibly an inflatable lacewing.

It's 'that' time of year again, so out come the spiders. Giving myself huge points, seeing as how I'd set the camera on Macro, hand-held, and it was actually about 50mm away from the spider, with me wobbling, him shaking in the breeze.

Certainly never seen cycling south of Sussex

Lovely image Salvatorers. You're taking some cracking images of late.

Good camera? Must be.

Is that a female stag beetle?  Apart from the looks, it's the only sort of big black beetle I can think of that would pose so patiently!

That's very kind of you to say so, Riggers.

You could well be right. There was no chance of motion blur. There were lots of them about (in the New Forest) and I may have unknowingly trodden on one or two, but I did flip one over which I had spotted on its back with its legs in the air.

Somewhere on Klendathu, Johnny Rico lays in wait, ready to leap onto the back of this beast, open a hole with his pulse rifle and pop in a plasma grenade.

He says Kill them- Kill them all!

Lots of lovely damselflies and dragonflies about right now, so hopefully there will be more soon.

And now for something completely different. One of the pubs by the University has been remodelled in honour of the naturalist (and former professor of biology) D'Arcy Thompson.

Waiter, there's a beer on my bug - the tables have been etched/printed with his original specimen drawings.

And the glass wall by the entrance has specimens embedded in it.

Not really a bug, but I couldn't see anywhere else to post it:
