A bit of both I think. Assuming there are enough submissions I'll choose what I think are the best 5 or 6 for each season then have a vote for the top 3 if that's easy enough to do.

Some nice photos so far, maybe 12 definite contenders (14 if Mr Larrington and Really Ancien's posts are really their own work

) so we need some more options. We'll give it a couple more weeks.

That photo of Bradley Wiggins is by my mate Dave Robinson, I was otherwise occupied trying to video the peleton, I phoned him up at half an hour's notice to tell him the Tour of Britain was coming through Leyland and he happened to pick on a perfect vantage point on the best day of the Tour. I'm hoping that he can get some good shots of the LEL like last time, but the lack of a Thorne start will make it difficult to get shots in the scenic Northern part of the ride with a spread out field.

The first image should tell you where these are from. Apologies for the quality - my batteries on the SLR were flat after a week of cruising - I should have taken the charger - so they are on the mobile phone camera. I was the shore party on a borrowed bike.

Maybe I should use it as a Guess The Place? that no one will ever guess

It's on a slightly challenging* roughstuff ride at a place called Whirlaw, that towers over the centre of Todmorden (I've got a pic I can post later of that). It's a place that has lots of associations, being the centre of a lot of 'UFO sightings', as well as being known through the novel by local author and adventurer (and not greengrocer (Calderdale joke - sorry!)

) William Holt, called 'The Wizard of Whirlaw'.

* You'll have noticed the looooooow gear (less than 1:1 actually, around 23" IIRC)

Some very good stuff so far but I think we could do with a few more submissions to give us enough options to make it worth taking a vote.

I see a few keen and talented photographers have joined us in the past couple of weeks as well (pongunagu, zzpza and FyPuNK, are you listening?

) so we'll leave this open for a couple more weeks.
