Islabike Cnoc Small pedal/crank interface
« on: 26 March, 2017, 10:02:35 pm »
We bought out grand daughter one of these a while back. The pedals were put somewhere safe and now my daughter doesn't know where. Will the cranks accept standard pedals? I couldn't find anything on the Islabikes website.

Pretty sure that they are standard - simplest is to take a pedal off one of your bikes and try it!  - remember n/s pedal has LH thread.

[I have 4 Islabikes here - if I get a chance I'll have a look and post the answer]

Barring exotica there are only two 'standard' pedal threads. 1/2" and 9/16"

The smaller is most common on one piece cranks as found on BMX and cheap childrens BSOs.
MOST bikes with separate cranks use the larger size.

As Rob says upthread, remove a pedal from one of your bikes and try it in the crank. If everything is clean the pedal should screw all the way in without need of a wrench. If it locks up after a turn or so there's something wrong. RH pedal clockwise to tighten . . .
VELOMANCER

Well that's the more blunt way of putting it but as usual he's dead right.

The set of pedals my s-i-l bought fit well. I phoned Islabikes this morning and a spare set from them only cost £10.

Balance bike first followed by pedals is just a fantastic way of learning. Martha was riding with pedals within 5 minutes of her first attempt.
