Top banana.  I will be riding back from London and not sure of my ETA in Writtle (probably be around 8pm).  I will text you when I'm about an hour away, does your mobile number still end 661?

I can recommend Ilford; rarely a dull moment.  I tend to be moving quite fast at that point hoping the good people of said Ilford find it harder to hit moving targets.  I suspect they're quite good at hitting all sorts of targets having had plenty of practice!

I shall bring camera to record the handover.  I'm aiming for an 8pm arrival in Writtle.

So where are the arty, Rapha-esque soft-focus pictures?
You are in a maze of twisty flat droves, all alike.

Not exactly soft focus but it does have OD showing his utter delight to be in possession of the baton

In accordance with tradition I can report that Farmer's Ales Nelson's Blood was drunk by some if not all the beer drinkers.  No record was made of the bean variety used to make bobb's coffee.  We need to address this oversight in the future.

On behalf of Tokamak, he was also keeping it local and was supping Maldon Gold (just for correct recording of these important matters).
Although none were consumed in Oaky proportions  :o

On other matters of recording, I of course visited TMNH on the way to Writtle and due to foolishly signing up to Strava seem unable to be satisfied with simply ascending but must do it in a new PR at each visit!

The cups the coffee was served in were too small. When the coffee had filtered through the thingie it was full to the brim. This made it impossible to pick up. Hence me drinking it like a cat  :P

Black & white images may do wonders for bobb but they make the spare Schwalbe Durano Plus (London edition) I'm carrying round my middle look way too obvious  ::-)

An early query about who's out this Wednesday evening (this in no way constitutes forward planning) to see if any other readers of this thread would like to take next care of the LEJoG relay baton?

OD handed the baton on to me at Dalham, Suffolk (125km in to our 200km Audax on Saturday)

It currently resides with me less than 1 mile away from Chez OD  ;D

if you do another lap of your audax you can drop it in here; you were 100 yards from my front door and a cup of tea...... (chrishall)

next time!

mike, that is one of the downsides of not doing forward planning that we miss opportunities to take tea with fellow forum frequenters
I'm sure there will be future laps of this 200k audax as I think it will become my default DIY route whenever I feel like getting out for the day, although I don't think I'll be in possession of the baton next time I pass by your front door!
