I think what i forgot to finish with was all power to him - the non-scientists love him which is great. He's not entirely ignorant  :) On balance there are the doers and there are the public faces - both have their place.

He's hopefully not *all* the impact of course - the science itself is what really counts of course.

But he's got such lovely hair.

Whereas Jimmy-boy is as bald as the Portland Vase.  OTOH he hasn't commited crimes against the ozone layer like Brian Cox.

But - of course- we is spreading the word and is therefore almost beyond value in making science cool.  Hence he's on just about every grant CERN want to put in as he is the impact.  And what an impact.  Impact that's him, not the actual science.

Bill Bailey theorised that a Malteser and a satsuma would produce a 'satseser' in the LHC.

What could Prof. BC best be collided with and what would it produce?

Well that's the more blunt way of putting it but as usual he's dead right.

with my old Part I Mechanics prof Hugh Hunt (see also: Colditz Glider and Bouncing Bomb documentaries) - one of the best teachers I've ever had.  Didn't see it at the time, but will catch up if I can bring myself to do battle with All 4.

"This Farming Life" has been on BBC2 for the last couple of weeks. It features real farmers in Scotland , with the commentary coming from them and a narrator. Last episode is tonight.
It is made by BBC Scotland and gives a really good picture of farming  life   and, of course , the scenery is superb.
Way better than the sugar coated tosh served up by Countryfile.

Going to try Flowers, starting on C4 tonight and on all week, starring Olivia Coleman & Julian Barratt.

Alan Bennet's "The History Boys" on BBC 4 now. Ooh, it's good.

May I also commend as worthy of this house's rispek', the estimable Colin Furze, who felt that, as a prelude to riding the WoD, it was necessary to build his own.

Plebs ITV2 tommorow night.
Now on series three and guest stars so far have included Maureen Lipmand and Miriam Margolyes. Mind you I still think Danny Dyres galdiator last season was the best so far.
You have to like a filthy comedy  set in ancient Rome that has Mary Beard as a historical consultant.
Its a pity its hidden away on ITV2.  Ryan Sampson should get an award for his Grumio the lazy slave.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

The best thing on telly at the moment is the advert for 'Power Monkeys' with the Fun Boy Three singing 'The Lunatics have Taken Over The Asylum'.

New series of Wayward Pines starts tonight.

I enjoyed the first series, for all its silliness. It will be interesting to see where they take it next. I don't have high expectations but I'm going to give it a chance.

GN: http://www.channel5.com/show/Justified is back! Thu 11pm on er ... Spike.

BN: it could hardly be buried in a more obscure slot ...  and it turns out this is the last series.

Hopefully Timothy Oliphant will find another outlet for his peculiar charm. Justifed is sooo much better than all the iffy action movies he's been in.
