Spd clip in platform

Whilst in that orange place on Sunday I notice that the newest Boardman bikes (slight changes to the first one, mainly component changes) are supplied with SPD pedals with a clip in platform on one side.  I didn't have the time to stop and chat to find out the score with these.  As I have a work collegue who is wanting to try out SPDs, does anyone know where I may be able to obtain such thinks?

Just to recap/clarify, it's a platform made of black plastic that clips into a SPD pedal, leaving you with a standard SPD on one side and the ability to ride the bike in your trainers on the other..

Are you sure they aren't the clip in reflectors that Shimano supply to satisfy the relevant lighting laws?

Otherwise M324, M424, M545 or M647 pedals all work well in normal shoes or SPDs.

That'll be the one, though TBH I don't remember seeing reflectors on the platforms....

My M520 pedals from the LBS came with them fitted, and although I've never come across them sold separately, they're available from SJS with a cheapo set of pedals http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/product-product-13837.htm . I've found them great on my touring bike, as I can use either clipless shoes or normal ones. They perform perfectly well as platform pedals - they aren't just reflector carriers. As long as you make sure that the tension is all the way up on the pedal where they clip in I can't imagine that they'll drop off easily, which seems to be a concern for many.

There are also true platform/clipless pedals available as well, such as the M324 ones (again seen here at SJS: http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/product-product-708.htm.)
