This is a totally sad and selfish one but.....

...I wanted these shoes to wear for my wedding:

I ordered a bespoke suit with the lining to match these shoes. Then I discovered they were out of stock in my size. Anyway, I settled on the same shoes in a light purple colour a size up but they were huuuge, then found the burgundy ones in stock in a size down and took a punt. They arrived this morning and they FIT!

Fuck yeah. Pimpin' deluxe still on course. They will be complimented by a three piece grey herringbone suit with red/burgundy paisley lining/waistcoat backing. Sooooo relieved as I had my heart set on these shoes and a classy suit to get wed in.

Funny, the other half found it a lot easier with an off-the-peg purple (non-wedding!) dress from L K Bennett.

It's been a week now since I had the operation on my leg and it's still VERY sore. But today I managed to walk a total of seven miles . Took me two sessions to do it and now I have two legs that ache.

Next thing to attempt, is going to be getting my leg up high enough to get over a saddle.

We have new tenants for our house in Wales (see classified ads if you are interested in buying it) and they seem really nice and he is a keen cyclist. Yippee.

I have discovered not one ,not two...but three bars of Green & Blacks dark chocolate in the baking cupboard.
A bonus for doing a bread & butter pudding.
I am normally a stranger to the contents of that particular cupboard. ::-)

Do you know what makes a particularly good bread and butter pudding, in the opinion of the boys in my household?

Adding dark chocolate (Green and Blacks would do the job marvelously, but we usually have aldi 'posh' chocolate in the baking cupboard).  Chopped up into random size chunks and scattered throughout the layers.  Om nom nom :)

Then you'll need to put your bum on the saddle. The bears out there have a white chevron on their chests, you know.

I've been to work today, for the first time this year.

Not been able to get my leg over a saddle since my operation 10 days ago.

Today, 6 very slow miles ridden to work, a full 8 hours standing up at work and an even slower ride home.

I was overtaken by EVERYBODY on a bike. Unlit teenagers on B.S.O.'s. A commuter on a Brompton and even a woman on a sit-up-and-beg bike. But I don't care.

I'm finally able to ride my bike again

Good news, Mr Blade.
Ten days since an operation sounds a bit optimistic - I hope you don't tear or ping anything.

Crikey.  I know how frustrating it is to be forced to be off the bike, and how good it feels to get back in the saddle, but do look after yourself, chap.

Glad to hear you're enjoying it, though :)
Getting there...
