Fruit flies - how to deal with?
« on: 30 April, 2020, 11:40:48 am »
For several months I have had fruit flies in the kitchen.  They may actually be drain flies - they seem to cluster round the moisture in the sink or draining rack.
I have tried putting out bottels of apple juice with washing up liquid, and a bottle with leftover wine. No effect.

Any tips on how to deal with them?

Automatic weapon.
And a tin of Dulux to touch up the paintwork.

ETA - Serious answer: Fly papers are very effective, at least they are on proper, industrial sized flies.
F.Strowger & Co on Norwood High Street sell them.
Proper 'Four candles' hardware store.
Worth a visit, even if you don't need fly papers.

I used water with wine vinegar plus washing up liquid.
Do not clench. It only makes it worse.

Fun fact: Fruit fly sperm is longer than whale sperm. I’ll be here all evening.

Slipper. Have to be quite quick though and for them to be on a suitable surface.
Failing that, Raid, but open the window and turn away.
