Getting there...

That's fantastic  :) I really like what he has done there. Problem of getting the belt through the chainstay solved by not having one  :)

And that reaction arm inside the left seat stay is so neatly done.

Wondering what rear hub he's rebuilt the Shamal on...

Don't know - is it an White ENO eccentric for tensioning purposes?

Edit: no, it isn't.

My first thought was Phil Wood, but I don't think it is that either.

It's a single-speed coaster brake hub of some ilk.  I think he's re-engineered the dropouts to allow chain tensioning.

It doesn't look like a Phil Wood (flange/shell ratio) or a White Industries (shell shape) hub from here, but I guess there must be other hub manufacturers who could offer a 16-spoke option as well.

Never been overly keen on Kirks, but in that colour, it does look rather nice, especially with the Shamals - and it's given me an idea...

I don't know how you can improve on Campagnolo Record, but at least he's kept the original bladed spokes (or sourced identical replacements). There's nothing worse than an old skool Shamal rebuilt with round spokes.  ;)

+1

+1, even if it does make me an old reactionary.  It seems strangely over-fussy for such a modern design.

It looks great, but it's best hung on a wall. I wouldn't want to ride it.

+1. Slight paucity of brakes.  Even a fixie should have one.  (E.g. how to stop if the belt snaps)
And if the front sus fork is there because of cobbles ("Paris Roubaix"), then there's likely to be mud and water on the deck.  Anyone thought of mudguards?

I was more concerned about the frame breaking.

He's using replacement spokes, the originals were straight-pull.

The early Shamals weren't straight pull, they used normal aero spokes.

Yes, the original hubs were just Record with half the number of holes.

Simon Legg has, or had, a Kirk.  He was always offering it out for others to ride on a FNRttC, while making it clear that he wouldn't ride it himself  :)

One bike shop in Bath reputedly sold a handful of Kirks when they first came out and all of them were returned, broken.
