Descending scree slopes on recumbent tourers.
And Foxton Lane, of course.

"Slow"Coach on his Dahon was particularly impressive (it is a small-wheeled folding bike, though not obvious in that last photo). I thought I'd have the least appropriate bike, on my fixed Dave Yates with 23 mm tyres, but there's always one.
"Bah, I can't be arsed building any more road, let's just use this river bed and go to the pub..."I think you have the measure of it there....
The photos don't do justice to quite how fast I went down there. I'd taken rather a lot of painkillers for my knee, and achieved a sort of Ballmer Peak for off-roading - quick enough reactions to do the right thing with the bike, but thought processes too sluggish to achieve a proper level of fear until after I'd negotiated a hazard. I don't think I could do it like that again if I tried.
IIRC Foxton Lane has been done on just about every type of bike barring an Ordinary and a 'bent.
Though it is not obvious, the first pic has me on my Ridley, with 23mm tyres and far fewer spokes on both my wheels combined than most here have in one wheel.
Violets Lane, Furneaux Pelham.

Yes, and you're holding my Orange with its tractor-type tyres.
Any photos of Shark Lane? I don't have any - I think it's always been dark by the time we got there.
You're counting flashes of lightning, right?
You're counting flashes of lightning, right?
We should have really got a photo that day that we both said "NO WAY!"* and turned around to take the other route back...
*For those that weren't there, the track was covered, side to side and as far as we could see along it with ice.

"towpaths with ridiculousslippery bricks,evul cambers"
Unfortunately all my COR photos seem to involve me lying in mud or bleeding, so someone else will have to start us off... what've you got?
Wasn't that the ride where we decided to ban davelodwig from ever choosing the route again ? ;D
As I was on my own, the only picture I have is when I stopped to get the camera out...
When we did the 'Cycling Plus jersey relay', I had some time to kill in Brandon, Suffolk while waiting to meet my 'handover'. So, I decided to go a couple of miles out of town and ride the 'Beast of the East' section of Thetford Forrest's Black route. :D
I was on the recumbent.

Wobbly, can't you find the video of you in that ford when we did the Peddars Way?

Found it! A few years back myself, Wobbly, Tomsk and Oaky ride the Peddars Way in a day. In fairness our bikes weren't mildly inappropriate for the terrain but Wobbly pushed the envelope!

I am assuming that this is somewhere on the way back from Tan Hill. What is a rail box car doing in the middle of nowhere?

At least tractor wheel ruts are wide, Landrover wheel ruts were narrower than the width of my pedals so there were a couple of unplanned halts when a pedal dug in to the edge of the rut.
Very impressive. But what we need to know is, was that before or after the pub?
deviation! That's an appropriate bike!

Having so much fun in fact, she failed to document me struggling round Rutland Water on a 73" Fixed gear Pompino wearing 25mm M+ Tyres at 100psi :hand:.My boggle is minding that such a thing exists. Spork to a Dackelschneider!
She did buy us Pizza and Gelato at the massively over-priced Italian Restaurant, later though

Second place, NE Engalund region semi finals, McNasty lookalike competition.
Where’s that? Looks very like the track after Col de Solude.

Ah, I missed that, well done. We did the route again in June and I had forgotten how good the descent from Villard Notre Dame to where the tunnels start was. Not too steep but lovely and twisty, if you have a bike which handles well at speed (Fred is brilliant) you can really chuck it round the corners. Disc brakes mean you can brake at the last minute too which adds to the fun.
I have some brilliant Go Pro footage which I must get round to editing.

Well, HERE IT IS! (https://youtu.be/GgY9qV_ZOk4). I haven't got the hang on editing yet so the early scenes of us faffing about might not be of too much interest.
Steeper and more slippery than it looks.Oi, you've got my cap on! The one that I was wearing yesterday!
