I'm helping out in volunteer role at para roads events based in Dumfries, currently in induction mode most recent an hour long online anti terrorism training module... 🤔  Stepping up this week with Teams tomorrow evening then on it next week.  Less cloud and rain please.

Train tickets bought for Glasgow the next 2 Sundays,
Canon A-1 Camera and 70-210 lens measured to ensure below permitted length etc.

For the mens Elite race I Wanted to go further along the Fife south coast to see the open road section but just off the bridge will have to do for train purpose.
The commonwealth games race was pretty boring on the finishing circuit but the field wasn't as elite.

For the womens elite race I'd really like to get up the campsies but again impratical so might get a train out to somewhere on course, the circuit section of the Womens commonweath games race was great, much more crit like in action

Most likely I'll be hanging around Montrose street as that was a really good spot for those races

Gutted I'm not there for this one. Had long standing work and family commitments, all of which ended up evaporating away - but too late to get on the team  :( Should be a good week.

Himself and I will definitely go to the men's rollout in Edinburgh an are still debating going to Glasgow afterwards.
We have tickets for the mountain biking cross country in Glentress.

I'm at Fort William for the downhill, should be fun as usual. So far not too much rain.

I did enjoy watching the downhill on TV, including the juniors. Absolutely phenomenal level of skill to stay upright, let alone factoring in that to win, the top end riders have to take make or break lines down the hill. Really good.  But I have one question - why do most of the riders wear white trousers? For an event where being covered in mud is guaranteed, even in the dry, white seems a bit impractical.

I think it's to emphasise hoe well 'ard they are - as if we couldn't already tell that only lunatics would do it.  It was an amazing spectacle.

The better to show the blood after they’ve come off at 40 mph?

It probably derives from BMX clothing from the 1980-90s. BMX pros did that to better show off their sponsors.

The downhill was indeed exciting. Does anyone know if the juniors did the same course as the Elites? We saw very brief highlights of the juniors on GCN* and if they were doing exactly the same as the elites they were going impressively fast.

*I don't recommend GNC's highlights of the day- too much chat and not enough action.

Will have been the same course but the alternative lines might have been available in places, the road jump and the "hazards hoofer" over the river seem to be optional at junior events.
