Wharfedale bridges are just the best for me.  Bolton, Barden, Burnsall, Conistone...

Mind you, I like Hebden Bridge.  Yes, there really is a bridge!
Getting there...

The results of a walk today, from Haweswater up onto High Street and back by Kidsty Pike.

Sandstone bridge in Bampton Grange

View over the bridge in Bampton.  Note the morning rush-hour: pub delivery

Naddle Bridge

Old bridge / new bridge scenario

Four bridges in one pic  8)

From Naddle Bridge (yeah, pushing it a bit, I know)

Haweswater dam.  Does that count?

Bowderthwaite Bridge

Unnamed bridge over Mardale Beck

Unnamed, over Gatescarth Beck

Unnamed bridge over unnamed puddle

Hey, they all count, right?

Not a bridge, but a rock-climbing caterpillar.  What's not to like?

I ride under this one most days, but I've never thought to photograph it.

It is an old railway bridge, now defunct crossing over NCN72 between Sellafield and Beckermet

dm - hurray for indoctrinating introducing the young'un in to the joys of bridge appreciation.

jonbuoy - crikey, that looks a bit minimalist!

mcshroom - glad to see that we bridge fans are giving you something to ponder on your commute - it looks like such an arduous journey, i bet you just can't stand having to go there every day!

I remember that from when it wasn't defunct and carried iron ore trains.

Part 2 in a series entitled, You Don't Seriously Expect Me to Come to Work in this Weather?

Had a ride out to Dentdale, what with it being a mecca for bridge-fanciers and everything.  Highlights below;  for original pics, together with others taken en route and even *gasp* some not involving bridges, see here.

From our Canadian jollies;

Thompson River near Hell's Gate BC (terrific cock-up with the wild salmon they were expecting 2million and got 40 (million!) last year; tasted nice though  :P

Hell's Gate; the Alum Bay of BC (we decided to be super hard and walk but decided it was worth the unadvertised single fare to take the red bus thingy back up)

Vancouver; Lions Gate bridge from Stanley Park; just to prove they have shit weather too sometimes (that speck in the sky is how important people commute to and from Victoria, by seaplane)

not sure if this counts as a bridge but prolly;  it's Peak2Peak the biggest longest highest everythingest gondola in the World and all it does is go between Whistler and Blackcomb mountains, apparently it drops right down to a mere 1417ft at its lowest point

you can see it next to the trees at the bottom

If it is it is the wrong train.

This is the right train!

The first big concrete structure ever;

apparently there is a horse and cart in one of the pillars (it fell in whilst tipping its load)

Tunnels are not quite so photogenic as bridges thobut.
