*want*

If you're serious, I happen to know where you can get one (and a signal box to go with it for the full effect) - not sure how you'd get it on a bike trailer...

Not sure how I'd fit it in the yard!

Nice and fast out of town. Rather a grovel heading back.

In my defence there's 43 pages to check through! Maybe someone could put up a google map.

And anyway, whilst you might not be able to cross the same river twice I see no reason not to try, with repeated photography.

One day I shall have to do the Grand Tour to end all Grand Tours and visit 'em all....

A many of bridges passed over, under or beside on today's ride.

Bridge by Berkeley Castle's kennels.

Old railway bridge in Sharpness Docks.

View from the old railway bridge showing a road swing bridge.

All that remains of the Severn Railway Bridge. It was destroyed in 1960 when two barges carrying petrol overshot the entrance to Sharpness Docks in strong tide and winds, hit column 17, breaking a gas main and an electricity cable, causing a huge fire. Apparently the remains of the two barges are still visible at low tide.

Once it was spanned thus.

A bridge over the Sharpness Canal. Note locals yaking on rhs!

The next bridge up, open for traffic.

Arched bridge under the M4 near Almondsbury.

Older arch under the railway heading to the Severn Tunnel.

Pointed bridge under M5.
Riding a concrete path through the nebulous and chaotic future.

There were lots of cyclists about when I crossed it a couple of weeks ago. I guess it's a popular route for cyclists from built-up bits of Lancashire to cross the canal and get into Cheshire lanes?

A couple from my commute home today: -

Not much to look at, but this is the little bridge under the Sellafield access road

Bridge holding up the old railway line - it would make a really nice cycle route back to Egremont but two of the bridges further up are missing.

Not the best of pictures but you can see them at least :)

Yep, main route into Cheshire, lots of end to enders use it too. Crossings of the ship canal are few and far between, the only other one between Eccles in Manc and Warrington that's not a motorway is Irlam locks, but can't find a decent image to link to at the mo
