I'm getting worried that we're going to have another non-summer like last year. Brief period of warm sunny weather in the spring then it wees down for the next five months :'(

I'm supposed to be doing a 50mile MTB ride this weekend. Do I really want to get up at 5am to ride that far in rain and mud? Sigh.

Then again, I think yesterday/today was the first time this year I've had consecutive wet commutes.

Everything is flooded round here.  I've just driven back from near Winchester and I had to pick my route very carefully and negotiate more than a few floods.

this afternoon I drove up from Westbury to WGC. M4 was so bad that I ejected at J15, went round Swindown A420, A43 ro Bicester then A41.  Monster puddles everywhere and a couple of failed drains near Oxford and on the A41, which was single lane in several places.   Really glad I was in company Scenic not on TREK or Tiger or on MG TF.  Didn't see many cyclists to be polite to.

I managed to cycle in between torrential downpours this morning, and if the Met Office's rain radar is to be believed, the rain does appear to be disappearing, so if I wait a bit longer, I should be able to cycle home in relative dryness.  The roads will probably still be a bit horribly slippery in places, but there's not a lot to do about that. :-\

Of course, now I've said that numerous extra storms will pop up out of nowhere and flood me personally. ;D
Actually, it is rocket science.

1. Today's rain may be partly my fault, because I cleaned my bike last night. Sorry!

2. And this rain is responsible for my terrifying moment earlier. There was more puddle than road on my way home, and one of the puddles was more oil than water, I think, because my rims picked up enough grease that my braking was actually non-existent. I did manage to stop, and I did manage to do this without the help of the bus in front - I'd been braking early because of the rain. But *scary*! I pootled home at snails pace after that.

It rained all last night and is raining yet again.  It means muddy dogs, wet floors and no cycling for me.  Everything outside looks so fresh and green :)  Mr A asked if I could turn on the heating :-\

If you watched the Met Office rainfall radar periodically during the day as I did, we came pretty close to July 20 last year.  If we get a front moving south to north up the Hampshire Avon valley it gets hung up over the Marlborough and Lambourn Downs and starts to circulate.  The animation was quite impressive, we had our own little revolving low starting to develop, especially as there was such a low wind speed.

Can't get any accurate rainfall data but it must have been a good 50-75mm from midnight last night to 1800 today.

If we get another of those intense and increasingly common summer downpours, with the state of the rivers and soil around here, we're gonna be in do-do again!
Question everything, accept nothing.

Right, clearly my post above annoyed some god of rain, or similar deity, and they've decided to keep it drizzling over London.  Looking at the radar, it doesn't seem to show any sign of moving, so I guess I'll have to grit my teeth and go home, otherwise at this rate I'll be here all night!

Actually, it is rocket science.

Solid rain here all day.
VERY wet on the way in this morning - huge poodles and rivers in the roads all over the place. Not quite so bad on the way home.
Thank God for modern all weather clothing....

Wet last night. My trainers didn't dry after the commute so I'm wearing Sealskins. Most of the puddles have gone but there's some rather gigantic potholes in the road, and grass cuttings are everywhere.  ;D

Fantastic commute in this morning.  A nice refreshing mizzle at the start and end, and tipping it down in the middle.

I did wonder about putting a jacket on, but couldn't be arsed to stop.  Therefore I was in just shorts and t-shirt the whole way.

Fantastic commute in this morning.
+1.
Bright sun, not much of a headwind.  Cooler than yesterday tho'.

We (Glos) must have been on edge the of wet yesterday.  Hours of rain, sheets and sheets of run-off all over the roads (still there in some places today) and big (_big_) puddles but no other probs.
