Is there such a thing, or do you have email each organiser to offer your services ?

<bump>

I don't think so - it seems like a no-brainer, but there may be issues that I don't know about.

I think it's OK if one person controls the list, names have consented in full to the purpose for which the list is kept (and can freely opt out), and you can avoid sending bulk mailings with everyone's details.

Or, keeping it simple, why don't organisers in need of help advertise what they need and where etc and see who puts their hand up? I suspect it will mostly be the same people who enjoy the comradeship of helping out (I can highly recommend it) but if we can show potential newbies how to dip a toe in that might be appreciated.

There's a recent-ish thread on this topic here:
https://yacf.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=112744.25

The vibe there is that most organisers have enough contacts to find volunteers without advertising publicly, and when in need they've found Facebook and this here forum a good enough informal way of finding people.

There must be smaller events and new organisers who'd benefit from such a list though.

I don't think we'll ever achieve a capillary enough list and not many organisers are prepared to fork out to pay travel expenses for unknown quantities.
