Reporting in from the Derbyshire Dales. Yesterday's snow came in horizontally, but was strongly tending towards slush in places by the middle of the day. Got a few spells of blue sky, but the wind was still giving it some beans and I decided not being near trees would probably be the sensible move.
A recce walk into town suggested the roads were pretty clear, so I drove to a nearby water feature. Then it started snowing again, but more vertically this time.
I was doing significantly less than the limit, but still managed to lose traction at the top of this hill. Did some strategic parking like a fud to avoid a) hitting the car further down in the hedge and b) accelerating into the crossroads.
Watched a few people get down safely by using the middle of the road and so I backed out and was more successful on the second attempt. Did the last few miles at about 10mph and with a selection of muscles tensed.
Go carefully out there...
